The Canad ian Motorcycle Association (CMA) has been awarded a round of the World Trials Ch amp ionship Series for 1996. The event will be held in Ontario, Canada, on June 2. knew, like Scott Russell, Dougie Chandler and Chris -Carr. According to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, a bill making Wyoming the 44th state to establish a legislated motorcycle safety training p rogram was signed by Governor Jim Geringer on February 24. The program is based on the MSF ' s Motorcycle RiderCourse: Riding and Street Skills . It will be administered by the Wyoming Department of Transportation and is entirely self-funded by motorcyclists through a $7 increase on motorcycle registrations and a newly established $3 motorcycle-operator-license fee. These cha rges are expected to generate approximately $126,000 in ann ual revenue, to be used specifically for the program. As Cycle News was going to press on Monday, March 13, we learned that Shawn Hi gbee and Ben Bostrom, the pair of riders who were disqualified from the Harley-Davidson TwinSport Series round at Daytona International Speedway on March 12 for ille gal engine modifications, have appealed the decision. Stay tuned. Motorcycle Co llector maga z in e has changed ownership. The magazine has been purchased by TL Enterprises of Camarillo, California , the same publishing group tha t publishes Rider and American Rider magazines. TL Enterprises plans to integrate Moto rcycle Collector magazine into its motorcycle publications group by creating a special Classic section in Rider and American Rider magazines. Publisher1edi tor Don Em de says he will remain heavily involved with the publication. At their recent annual membership meeting, the Motorcycle Industry Council members re-elec ted all incumbent d irectors for another term. Officers elected by the Board were Bob Moffit of Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA as Chairman; Tony McAndrew of Mototech Interna tional as Vice-Chairman, and Tim Buche of American Suzuki Motor Corp. as Secretary-Treasurer. Alan R. Isley was re-elected as President and is celebrating his 20th year in that position. An update on Ricky Graham: The threetime AMA Grand National Champion left the hosp ital on Friday, March 10, and is now staying with his father, Bill Grah am, w hile continuing to recover from his recent mo torcycle accident. "Ricky's coming alo ng slowly but surely," the elder Graham said. "The swelling (on his brain) has gone down and there are no blood clots. His speech is improving. He's talking fairly clearly, but when he gets excited, he can't quite spit the words out." While resting at home over the weekend, Graham did get the opportunity to watch the Daytona 200 on television. "He (Ricky) cou ldn't remember some of the guys he . Household Retail Services, Inc. The installment program can be used to purchase Yamaha-brand street-legal motorcycles as well as all other Yamaha p roducts. Strai ht shooter Ki vin Schwantz recen tl y took part in a clay pigeon shooting ession with his teammate Daryl Beattie and George Digweed, the reigning individual World Clay Pigeon Champion and the first person to ever win the title three years in a row . The meeting took place at the prestigious Holland & Holland shooting ground in the English countryside west of London. Nobody was keeping score, but 5chwantz was happy to note that at one particularly difficul t stand, Digweed, for once, d id not h it every clay. "When it was my tum, I go t lucky wit h the first pa ir, then told them to stop sen ding the m out. I knew I ought to quit while I was ah ead," said Schwantz, who is now considering insta lling clay-pigeon eq uipment at his ranc h in Austin, Texas. The H olli ste r H ill s Sta te Ve h icu la r Recreation Area (SVRAI , in -Hollister, California, will celebrate two decades of service to out door recreation en thusiasts on Ap ril 1-2. "We are the first of the state's seven off-highway vehicle parks to reach this 2D-year milestone," said Ralph Fairfield, district su pe rin tendent for the SVRA . "So we a re trying to organize activities for all age groups and all of our guests." A Sport Bike Clinic will be held at San Diego's House of Motorcycles, March 25. Factory reps from Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha will host seminars on several sportbike topics. Many "trick" motorcycles will be on display, including Jamie James' championship-winning Yamaha YZF600, Steve Rice's champion drag bike and Rich Oliver's championship-winning Yamaha TZ250.
