Sloa n's Hon d a / Yam a ha / Suzu ki p uts on th e largest indoor race of th e year, bringing many of the East Coas t riders by offering a $6000 p urse to the Pro class. Few classes were domina ted to the exten t that Ben Riddle handled the Junior and Senior Mini divi sions. Riddle had an easy time with his qu alifying heats, leaving the competi tion behind in all of his races except one. In the other, Riddle sta rted sixth out of 15, retaining his pos ition as the field sorted itself ou t on lap on e. He bided his time until easily making the passes to take the lead through a set of whoops that he had thor oughly mastered. Saturday's 125cc Pro d ivisio n saw plenty of sh uffli ng going on be hind th e leader. Shane Tem pleton took the lead at the drop of the gate and was never cha llenged through the enti re seven laps . Bill Wallen filled in the second spot afte r it was all ove r. The Canadian Wallen led the 250cc A feature off the line, only to be passed by Billy U les. Liles was tripl ing a set of jumps that no one else could clear, pleasing the 5000 fans that were on hand. Third place was picked up by Eddie Smiley. Sunday's 125cc race was tota lly different, as Templeton got a fou rth-place s ta rt. Phillip Myers started third and made quick wo rk to second, w ith Tem plet on following . Leader Trent Hansen stayed out front until the .se ven th lap , when he slid out and allowed Templeton by. Myers ran seco nd for se veral la ps until going down and losing several spo ts, but he recovered and climbed back to third. In the 250cc d ivision, Mike Morris took the lead from the start, followed by the ever -present Templeto n. Liles and Mike N uller were in the top fou r. With 29-second lap times and just seven lap s, there wasn't much time for pa ssing, and Morris took th e win. While he didn 't score a win, Philli p Morris was the talk of the 125 and 250cc Pro divisions.
