Davis opened up the 1995 ational Hare Scrambles Series with a
seemingly effortless win aboa rd his
Team Green -backe d Kawasaki. The
motocrosser-turned -off- road-ace barely
wo rked up a swea t as h e q uick ly
motored around last year's winner Rod ney Smith and Na tiona l End uro Cha mpio n Steve Hatch just off the start, and,
from that poin t on, Davis was simply
untouchable. He took the checkered flag
with plenty of room to spare, nea rly one
minute ahead of Team Suzuki 's Smith.
Hatch, Smith's teammate, ended up finishing third, while a distant fourth went
to three-time Hare Scrambles ati onal
. Champion Scott Summers .
Davis , who will most likely no t campaign the entire National Hare Scrambles circuit, said he basically used the
race as a "wa rm-u p" for the following
week's opening round of the National
Enduro Series in Coalinga, California.
" I'm really going to try hard to win the
National Enduro Series this year, and it
will take a lot of wo rk: This was a good
one to run." And win, no doubt.
Th is year's 14-mile Hollister OHV
Pa rk cou rse was s ligh tly d ifferent from
las t year's race, incl uding more down hills and different sections..Overa ll, the

course was fast and technical.
Brian Garrahan and Cole Marshall
led the AA pack off the start. Marshall,
in fact, h ad th e so le position up fro nt
w hen Ga rrahan bobbled and bounced
off the course. However, Marshall's lead
was short-lived, when Hatch, Davis and
Sm ith blew by him.
Davis quickly took care of Hatch on
the firs t d ownhill, and with his Suz uki
te amm at e now brea thi ng d o wn h is
back, Hatch let Smit h by, not wanting to
hold up the defending HS cham p. "I go t
a fa irly good sta rt," said Smith of th e
early go ings. "I saw Steve take the lead
until Ty wen t by hi m, and then Steve
moved over to let me by."
"I actually got the holeshot over Garrahan who got off the course," said
Hatch of the start. "Ty was next and then
Rodney. I let Rodney by because this is
