Mot o two opened with much better conditions and another Matson holeshot, but Ryan wa s right there to make the mota tough for Matson. Ryan and Matson battled furiously for several laps before Ryan inched into a sligh t lead, with Matson and Holland traili ng . Gomm came on strong to mix things up on the fourth lap, getting close enoug h to force both Ryan and Matson to pick up the pace. It wa s a close, but Ryan prevailed over hi s ch allengers for th e mota and overall win. In the 12 5cc Pro class, Holland holeshot and rocketed into the lead ahead of Espo si to, Tyler Humm el, Gomm and Justin Tieamy. Meanwhile, Matson had gotten off the line late and had to play catch-up. Years of pro experience have made Matson a ma s ter of the pa ssing gam e, and soon he wa s challenging Esposito for se cond pl ace. au t front, Holl and co ntinu ed to lead an d looked to have th e cash counted until Ryan pull ed a fast one on the final lap to take the win over Matson, Holland and a charging Myers. In mota two, Matson didn't mess around, getting off the line quickly and staying th at way all race to lead th e mota s ta rt to fini sh . Ryan paced with Ma tson for the en tire mota but had to settle for secon d. Myer s was third , follow ed by new Tieamy and Cornm, In th e 80 cc cl a ss, Jeff N orthrop romped over the competition en route to the class win. Anoth er Am ateur who put on an ou tstanding rid e was Brett Racine, wh o recently moved up from th e 80cc class to race as a 125cc Junior . JAN. 29 Ten-yea r-old Adam Dea l increased his unbeaten streak to three in the 80c< Mini class during the Dirt Track Riders Assoc iatio n's third ice race of the seaso n, hosted by the Waterw orks Beachclub Lounge on Centervi lle Lake. Deal jumped into the lead at the start of the 80cc main eve nt but wa s qu ickly u nde r pressur e from Adam Henrich s. The d uo diced closely in th e o pe n ing lap s in wha t appeared to be a rematch of the heat race which Deal won . Henrichs made a move to the inside of Dea l in tum four, but his bid for the lead was dashed when the two rid ers bum ped and Hen richs cras hed . The incident left Deal with an imped ed pa th to the checkered flag . Ma tt Powers inherited the runner -up sp ot ahead of Bobb y LeP age and a recovered Henrichs. John Larson also sco re d wi ns fo r the third consecutive race. Riders in the Open B and Vet 30+ classes had to play second fidd le to the larson's Cycle Ra cin g-spo n sor e d vet era n o nce again. as he continued to dom inate both divi sions. Jason Larson was also on a roll. pickin g up his second consecu tive win in th e 250cc B class by easily out d istancin g Jesse Blomberg, Greg Jendro, Dave Peterson . The first Open A class ice race of the season saw GNC dirt track expert Dan Zitur record the win ahead of a spirited battle for second between Verdccn Langlan d and Norb Gregory .
