Bad news g u ys-you can't do th at a ny more. • You see, we to o k th e YZ250, and rather than take It hom e, we took It to th e fa ctory. Tore It apart. And re ally tricke d It out. • We started with th e e ng ine, adding a resonator box to th e Power Valve system and used a Kelh ln carburetor which gave th e motor a harder hit In th e mid-range portion of the powerband to give you more pulling p ower out of the corners. We cha nged the Intake manifold radius a nd reed va lve system for Imp roved a ir flow. Eve n the alrbox passageway got boosted. so th e YZ250 can take b igger oxygen gulps. And we c hanged the Int erna ls o f the Power Valve for more control and a lo ng e r, wider power hi t. Then we topped It off wit h a stronger Ignition system th at genera tes higher voltage at the spark plug. We even dove Int o th e transmission and figu red out a way to make It shift crisper. • The next stop was handling and suspension. We went Into the Racin g De partme nt and borrowed th eir fork design that features the new mid-range travel va lve. It boo sts the suspension's mid stroke p erformance (where your forks work the hardest). Then we slipped In a larger shock pi ston and ring se t-up . Fi na lly. we chang ed the steering head angle. tu cked it In a tad for q uicker steerIng. the n chang ed th e tnptectc mp offset to p rovid e ju st th e right ba lance between precise steering a nd straight-li ne stability. • From th ere we moved o nto Imp roving the brake s. The fro nt no w ha s new pads for a more positive fe el. while the rear got a new stainless steel rotor a nd a new caliper guard . And since th e wheels were off anyway. we desig ned a new spoke set-up to g ive y o u more time between ma intenance Int erva ls. • The last thing we d id was brighten the color a little b it. Dldn·t make it fa ster-b ut It looks cooler. • Sorry about taking,all that hop-up, t rick-out stuff away from y o u-we just couldn't resist doing It ourselves.• E YZ250 r s livin g larg e In th e high rev ra nge-the 125 c lass-a world of wide open throttle, lots of c lu tching a nd a b illion Shifts p er la p . It d e livers better. strong er power. • The YZ1 25 still hits hard-very hard-but now th e additional p ower boost g ives you more usable power to point a nd shoot with. • 125 Pro rid ers know that whe n you're totally on th e gas, you ca n't b a ck Off just because Of gnarly ra c etra ck bumps. This y ear's YZ1 25 susp ension is fi ne -tune d to keep y ou a head Of th e wolves a nd out o f th e banners. The front forks have rec eive d a new mid-stroke d amping valve (te sted and proven on th e works b ikes) for better perfo rmance when the forks a re battling t he bumps In the mid-stroke ra ng e-where your suspension works the hardest. • The rea r shock has a larg e r p iston. p ls, t on ring and a top bearing Teflon sheath fo r Increa sed suspension d urcbillty. Irs a suspension package that isn 't going to let y ou d own o r fade away o n the closing laps. • Since the YZ125 now goes faster, It ma d e sense to make sure it stops better too.
