Some obs tacles had been built especi ally for the eve nt, including a wh oop sectio n and so me new trail s through the brush . Race times wer e 45 minutes per i:lass. Tho ug h Ama rad io rem oun ted and initially continued on, he pulled off soon after with bike pr oble ms. Johnson had pull ed ove r on the firs t lap to let Duba ch by, and as the race continue d, Dubach narr owed the marg in o n th e leadin g Wi nd ha m . After so me horsin g aro u nd , the two Yamaha riders began to go at it and pull ed awa y from th e pa ck. Though the two were fair ly close, Windham had cont rol the who le time, an d he slowed near the finish so the tw o co u ld cross the li ne together. Joh nson held o n to wi n the 500cc Pro cla s s, followed by H ard en and former facto rv Honda ride r Chuck Sun, who was rid ing a four-stroke Hu saberg. Amaradio was back for more in the l25cc class, w hich was led sta rt to finish by Windha m. Ama radio was the runner -up. In the combined Vet Pro / Vet Int er mediate /25+ Interm edi ate race, Ha rde n took control and rode to the easy wi n.
