Demuth demolishes
Honda Hills
By Rupert F. Pellett
UNVIIl.E, OIl, NOV. 16
Feroce racewear-sponsored josh Demuth powered his Yamaha YZI25 to two convinci ng wins
in both the 12See A and Schoolboy classes at
Honda Hills Motosports Park's last race of the
season.
In the first 12Scc A mote, Demuth had a
great lead up the start hill and left the battling
for positions to the rest of th e pack. Seco nd placed Billy Hart was quickly displaced by John
Sims, while Wes Boyd ran fourth and Jesse
Thumser fifth. Boyd was not content to run in
fourth, as he used the second lap to pass Hart
for third and then quickly pounced on an
unsuspecting Sims to take over second place.
Boyd was not able to cat~h Demuth, who was
long gone, and Boyd would settle for second,
with Sims ·a close third. Thumser wo uld eventually get by Hart to round out the top four posi- •
tions.
. The second moto played hos t to another
Demuth holeshot as Sims grabbed the runner-up
spot and Thumser was th ird. Demuth wasted no
tim e in ge lli ng a killer pace goi ng, but Sims
stay ed righ t on his tail as they flew aro und the •
loamy circuit. Fourth-placed Boyd wen t inside
of Th umser by the announcer's boo th to take
over third place and set his sights on the fleein g
pair.
On the third lap, Demu th made an uncharac- ~
teris tic mista ke and ended up taking a soil samp le, all owin g Sims to take th e lead. Dem u th
quickly remo unted and charged after Sims like a
man possessed. Dem ut h finally caught Sims in
th e infield sectio n b u t had to wall until the
rough straigh taway before ma king his move.
Demuth and Sims came out of the uphill comer
preceding the straightaway side by side but
Demuth held the gas on longe r and had the better position going into the next comer, sending
Sims into second place . Demuth would run off
with the win with Sims in second, Boyd in third
and Thumser in fourth.
In the Schoolboy class the hot-riding Jason
Frecker was able to top Demuth for first-moto
honors, but Demuth 'came back to take the overall with a second-moto win. Team Green's jeff
Gibson finished a strong third overall in his first
Schoolboy race aboard a '95 KXlOO. In the SOcc
stock class it was a 1995 K1M 50SXR sweep as
. the trick new bikes too k first, second and third
places, with Michael Willard taking the top honors .
