A 15-race schedule for 1995 was also announced, induding 14 events promoted by the U.S. Supercross Series producers plus the traditional event promoted by Internationa l Speedway Corporation at Daytona International Speedway. The races p rod uced by MTEG, Pace and SRO will all be broadcast by ESPN on a tape-d elayed basis, and The Nashville Network will again p rovid e coverage of the Daytona Supercross. Cary Agajanian, the newly appointed chairman of the board of Parada ma, a wholly held subsid iary of the AMA d oing bu sin ess as AMA Pro Racing, played an integral role in bringing a succes sful conclusion to the 11 months of negotiations between the AMA and Supercross p roducers. The five-year agreement rep resen ts the first multiyear sanctioning agreement in the 22-year history of the series, something Agajanian sees as a first step in taking the spo rt of supe rcross to the next level in motors ports. "Th is agree me n t ha s strengthened th e rela tionship between th e AMA and the su percross prod ucers, and brings extended stability, to the sport," said Agajanian. "Supercross is one of the fastest-growing forms of motorsp ort, and through our combined efforts I feel we can ad van ce the sport to new levels." Unde r the terms of the agreem en t, PM Communications of Sacram en to, California, will administer the U.S. Supercross Series' Contingen cy Aw ards pr ogram in 1995. The AMA will handle all sanctioning d uties of the series, including licensing, rulemaking, ru le-en forcing, sco ring and insurance. Am erican/ International Racing, the recently organized association mad e up of the three promoters to sanction the series, will con tinue to exist, but for a di fferent purpose. "Our role has changed ," said Roy Janson, forme rly the professional racing dinector for the AMA and recently the execu tive di rector for AIR "AIR's main function will be to help coordina te the three different producers , assuring consistency throughout the series. In addition, we will work towards more long- term goals for the series.
