NOV.6 Less th a n 40 miles north of th e Santa Clara Co unty Fairgrounds, over 4 inches of ra in fell over the weekend, bu t less than 2/lOths hit the San Jose Mile where Joe Bruce roosted to the win in the first race of the Mara thon chaUenge series on board his Yamaha VZI2S. • Bruce lapped the pack and only had a little com pe tition from Pat Brown. who led the small End ur o bike class until he tried to slap the back of his head with his leg . Bob Cope took home tha t trophy while Scott Heywood came from last to seco nd overall and second in the 125cc class after stopping on the first lap for goggles. I Vet In termediate rider Rick Tiago gav e the slightly damp race number two a look over and then took his new KX250 to the easy win while Scott Larson did the chas ing.
