with W~ber holding on to second ahead
of Murray.
Murray and Weber again battled
closely in the second moto, this time,
however, il was for the lead, as Musgrave ran third. Murray ju mped out to
the early lead but his nemesis Weber
was right on his tail. Once again, the
two riders were never separated b y
more than a few bike lengths throughout the moto, and when it was all over,
it was Murray leading the way across
the finish line . Murray's 3-1 tally gave
him the overall win, while Weber went
2-2 for second. Musgrave went 1-3 for
third.
Becky Kukla piloted her Kawasaki
KX80 to the 125cc Beginner class w in .
She won both motos over runner-up
Scott Rousseau, who holeshot the entire
combined 125 / 250 / 500cc class in the
second moto an d led for a half lap
before auguring his Suzuki and his body
into a big mudhole. He recovered in last
place, worked his way back up through
the pack an d passed third-pla ce finisher
Jon Williamson on the last lap to clinch
second overall.
Yama ha ri de r Tod d McKay was

onda-mounted Rich Boiteau topped
a stro ng field of Vet Juniors during
th e final ra ce of the Racing Enterp rises-promoted Vet Cup Series at
Carlsbad Raceway .
Curt Jablonski grabbed the first-moto
holes hot o ver the 21-rider field, but
Boiteau quickl y assumed the lead on the
opening lap and proceeded to build a
strong advantage over the field. Jablonski quickly dropped to eighth. Boileau
continued on his tirade, pulling to a 10second cushion over Jeff Eary and last
week's winner Ron Stebe.
Stebe began to pressure Eary for the
runner-up spot at the halfway mark and
went on to take it awa y before the field
returned to the finish line to begin lap
five. Eary then ran into problems in the
back section of the course and dropped
to sixth at the finish. Up front, Boiteau
maintained his earl y moto superiority to
score the moto win , followed by Stebe,
Tim Crowder, Karl Holmberg and Jeff
Gray.
Boileau repeated his first -mote d isappearing act in moto two as well, lead- '1
ing the race wi re to wi re. But beh in d
him , a strong battle took place for second between Gray, Crowder and Stebe.
Crowder hammered on Gray through
the middle laps, looking for a place to
pass while Stebe waited in the w ings.
On lap six, Stebe stepped up the press u re a nd passed both riders, lea ving
them to battle for th ird place. Mea nwhile, Greg Hayward entered the thirdplace race, and while Crowder and Gray
continued their battle, Hayward slipped
