Her lead was short-lived, however, as Gamer tripled over Harris. who only mana ged a do uble in the By Rex Harris next section. anco,CA.SEI'T.16 , Aston Racing's Daniel Fowler took advantage of the absence of poin ts leader Eric Nye to tro unce the competition and na rrow the point g a p between himself and Nye by taking the 60cc win at round 13 of Cycle1and's Summe r High Point Series. Action got und erway with Honda-mounted Brent Triplett grabbing the holeshot and leading to the first tum. Settling into second was bro ther Brand on, followed by Fow ler, Seth Harris, and Brando n Boyd . Fowler shot pa st Bran d on Triplett in the whoops and began to close on the leader. As the y en tered the tigh t right-ha nd er before the start/ fin ish tabletop, Fowler made his move and dove underneath Brent Triplett for the lead . Behind them, Harris made a pass on Brandon Trip lett, while Chris Barnes had caught and passed Boyd. Lap three showed Fowler leading with Brent Triplett, Harris, Brandon Triplell, and Barnes in tow. Garrett Kopping was moving through the pack after a poor start and was closing on Barnes. The two battled shortly, before Kopping found an opening and made the pass, taking over fifth spot. As the white flag waved Harris was making a final charge at the leaders when he took a tumble heading for the doubles. He quickly recovered. but not before Brandon Triplett got by. At the finish it was Fowler taking the win, followed by Brent Triplett, his brother Brandon. Harris and Kopping rounding out the top five. In 80cc letion it was hot starter Aaron Bums leading the charge with Nikld Harris. Kyle Carner, Nathan Davis and Steve Shimizu giving chase. Carner blasted down the ins id e of the long whoop section and threw a classic blockpass on Bums to take over the lead. Harris took advantage of the contact between Gamer and Coming from back in the pack was Suzukimoun ted Chris MeAvoy, who was on the charge and soo n passed bo th Shimizu and Davis for third spot The order was set to the finish with Gamer taking the win and locking up the class champions hip, followed by Harris, Burns, MeAvoy and Davis. SEI'T.17 -18 Ken Marecak and Becky Gansberger were just tw o of the class winners in the Sacramento P.!.TS .-hosted second annual "Bear Boogie" at the Bear Valley Ski Resort in the high Sierras. The action began Saturday with the Vintage and Junior riders tackling the huge granite slabs. Marecak rod e to victory in the Premier Heavyw eight class on h is im peccably res to red AJS, totaling six points for the da y. Gansberger. 16, one of a small group of females entering the sport of tria ls, compiled only 12 points to take the Intermediate Mod em Bike class. The Junior Intermediate class had a close finish. with winner Andy Johnson acquiring two points, followed by Creg Erwin with only four points. On Sunday, the Cla ss A riders put on an incredible show for spectators. The rid e of the day went to Kenn y Leduc, riding the Master line, the most difficult, on a borrowed Yamaha TY350. Leduc performed stunts thought to be impossible on an older mode llrials bike, making it look easy and winning with 44 points. Fanticmounted Neil Belvoir won th e Expert class handily, finishing with 33 po ints, his nearest competitor 27 points beh ind him . Fifteen-year-old rising star Mitch Reichardt had an amazing ride on his Aprilia Oimber, topping the Intermediate class with 29 points. The highly competitive Senior Amateur class victory went to Jim Dana , while the Amateur class was dominated by Jeff Wright, with 26 poin ts. In the Novice class , John Lee wo n with 26 points, but second place went to Bob Luciano, who was riding his first trials event ever, without benefit of practice, since he purchased his Beta only days before the event Resu lts Sotunlay !'REMHfW , I . ....
