putting space between second and third.
A cras h on the front straight caused the race
to be red-flagged about 30 minutes into the twohour event.
The resta rt saw Winnacker again pullout to
a commanding lead and take the win on his
Wi dman Harley Davidson/Suzuki-backed
GSXR. Team Excel's Michael Dye , Black an d
McDonald jockeyed for position for five laps
before McD on ald took po ssess ion of second
place. Black st ayed clo se, but his fron t bra kes
failed and he started falling back wi th less then
10 m inutes left in th e race. As a result, Dye
sailed into third.
The Mediumweight win belonged to K&N
Racing I's Phil McDonald from the sta rt, with
L&L Express finishing an impressive seco nd .
In th e Mediu m Prod uction/Ligh tweight
l OOK, ji m Taylor got the holeshot followed by
Te rry Wilb urn. The race wa s ex pected to be
be tween these two riders, but Jeff Kramer
caught Wilbu rn on the seco nd lap and rode Taylor's rear tire until the ninth lap. Taylo r then got
caught in traffic a nd had a quick off-a nd-on
excursion in tum six. At that point, Kramer bolted into the lead and seemed to find speed as the
race p rogressed, finis hing 24 seco nds ahead of
seco nd p lace.
