Hunter main-event w in to ma ke it three in a row
at the Los Banos Fairgrounds.
johnson, the fastest qualified rid er in th e
field, sat in the 10th position on the inverted
starting grid but wasted little time in establishing himself as the leader, as he quickly went to
the head of the pack by the th ird lap of the ISlap main event.
Both Brell Hamilton and Pat Bennell tried to
kee p up johnson's pa ce, but they were unable
to make a serious ch allenge for the top spot.
W ith johnson taking th e v ic to ry , that left
Hamilton in second, Bennell in third, and john
Coo k in fourth. Keith Mayes rounded out the
top five.
Tyler Evans sco red th e o ve ra ll w in in the
80cc Intermedia te cla ss . In mot o on e, Aaron
Cheselske too k the lead and set his sights on the
checkered flag . Thou gh Medl ey and Evans took
their bes t shots at Ch eselske, their efforts wo uld
be in vain. The finish ord er a t the checkered flag
was Cheselske, Evans and Medle y.
In mo to two, Medle y pulled th e ho les hot
and held the lead un til the fifth lap . Both Evans
a nd Ch esel s ke got by Med ley. The batt le that
ensued was fierce. It was a win -at-aJlon.

Kady conquers Glen Helen MX

Ty Kady was the victo r, as the 125cc intermedia tes supplied some good racing at round three
of the Yamaha Dealer Series at Glen Helen Raceway.
Travis Pres ton pu lled the holeshot in front of
Kady, Kenny Miller and Eric jon Wrigh t. Kad y
grab bed the top spot by outjump ing Pres ton off
the "Sky jump" and then taking the inside line
in to the ne xt comer. Wri gh t worked h is way
around Miller for third. Making a charge from
fifth was Ch ris Coo ley, w ho was now putting
pressure on Miller.
Kad y was trying 10 put some distance on his
co m pe ti tio n , but Pr eston wa s matchin g th e
leader' s e ve ry move. Beh ind them, Co oley
passed Miller and was setting h is si gh ts on
Wright.
Kady bobbled at the start of lap three giving
Pres ton a chance. The y were side by side going
into the north part of the course. Preston went to
the slow ins ide line of the " V-tum " and led for
abou t SO ya rds , but Kady came from the outs ide
and took back the lead .
Kady settled down and started to pull aw ay
fro m Preston, who was held up tw ice by lap pers. Kady took the first-m oto win wi th Preston
in second , while Coo ley went around Wrigh t for
third. Miller was fifth.
Mille r p ulled th e h oleshot in th e second
moto, bu t fell back before the en d of lap one .
Kady took the lead with Cooley, Wright, Preston
and Doug Parso n s righ t b eh ind hi m . Th e
O range County Su zuki /Malcolm Smi th Racing/Gator ZlMaxima/ Pro Circuit-backed Kady
imm ed iately opened up a gap between himself
and the res t of the field .

Wright worked his way around Cooley at
t he " Whoo p Section." M iller p ulled off the
course with mechanical problems. Preston started charging on the fourth lap and passed Cooley
for th ird at the "Tunnel Dou ble," then went after
Wright. Th e white flag came out with Wrigh t
a nd Preston side by side in th e short chute.
Wrig h t had the bell er drive going to the north
section .s he took back second. 11 didn't last for
lon g tho ug h, beca use Preston made the move
around Wright going towards the "Canyon,"
securing second. The final order was Kady with
the wi n, followed by Presto n, Wrig ht, Coo ley
and Parsons.

Team Green rid er josh Sweat took the overall
win in the 250cc B class at Pleasure Valley
Racewa y in the last race to be held at the facility be fore the Lorella Lynn 's Amateur Nat ion als .
It was Sweat wh o took the firs t-moto w in,
but it was the Suzuki of Chris Desantis tha t had
the lea d com ing ou t of the first tum. N ot fa r
behi nd was Chad Oppy with Swea t on his back
wheel. Swea t was ab le to ge t ar ound Op p y in
the baCk sectio n and had his eyes se t on Desantis, who was abl e to hold off Swea t's pressu re
for most of the first lap.
" I let him go in front of me at the bo lto m of
the do wnhill because I know he's fas ter," said
Desantis.
By the third lap, Swea t had a 12-second lead
on Desantis and was well on his way to a check·
ered flag. Sweat also took the checkered in the
first 125 B mo to, and Desantis was able to ride
away with a win in the Co llegeboy class .
When the gate dropped for the second molo,
it was not Desantis up front, but the Kawasaki of
the first mo to-winner, Sweat. However, Desantis
was no t far behind, and neith er was the third·
place runner, Op py. Op py made his way around
Desantis, b u t Desantis d idn 't hol d onto the
third-place position for long .
"I got around him IOppy) going through the
whoops: said Desantis.
Soon after Oppy fell back into third , he was
engaging in a bailie in front of the tower wit h
Anderson. Du ring the third lap , Anderso n was
able to ge t arou nd Oppy. And Stelmack , who
was in sixt h, got aro un d the fifth-place ride of
the BT Racing -backed Morocco. Swea t had an
untouchab le lead, again, wi th Desantis , And erson , and Oppy following un til the w hite flag,
where a few cha nges toole place. Th e re wa s
another batt le between Stelmack and Mo rocco,
bu t this time the victor was Morocco. Op py lost
his fourth position feet from the finish line when
he had some problems with his bike.
Swea t was again on his way to a mota win in
the second 125cc B molo when he got a flat tire
and did n't finish . Desa ntis, on the other ha nd ,
took the second -mo to wi n in the CoUegeboy
class to take the overall.
