mot o win for a back-to-back overall victory in the class. Moore w en t on to wi n two mot os and the overall in the Vet Juni or class and credited his four-molo sweep - and the bes t race day of his life - to a new phys ical training regiment and a proper d iet. lea ves the ga te at the Carlsbad Raceway MX. Eddie Moore (63) t opped the 250cc Junior class w h ile Co lin Eberly (fifth fro m ri ght ) was the 125c c w inner. poinL Eckel passed Dickso n Jr. over the finish line double, but Dickson Jr . had the hot line going into the next turn and held the throttle on to take back the lead . Eickel continued to probe Dickson for a weakness and finally found his chance. Throughout the race, Eickel was the only rider clearing the long grandstand triple, and he tried to set up Dickson for a pass there with two laps to go. But Dickson protected the lead by preventing Eckel from jumping the triple . Eickel then improvised in the turn after the triple, block-passing Dickson Jr. and moving into fits L Eckel held Dickson off to take the win. Arnold grabbed third, and Mike Blair held off Morgan forfourth. Eckel took control of the second 250cc A molo on the first lap and ran away for the win. Dickson easily moved inlo the second spot as Arnold's borrowed Yamaha suffered mechanical problems. Keith Gw inn came out on top of a Gwinn-Morgan-Blair battle to take third and third overall, and Morgan held off Blair for fourth place and fourth overall Results 51>. JULY29 Bart Bast, a hometown favorite, won all of his heats to ea rn a perfect score and win the tra ck championship as Fast Fridays hosted its season finale a t Auburn Speed way. In the second heat of the evening. rivals Bast and Sisemore, two of the top riden; at Auburn, were pitted against each other. At the start, Bast took the lead over Darrell Busby and John Grant while Sisemore tail ed off last. Sisemore then ca ug h t Busby but went do wn wh en Bu sb y parked in turns three and four. The race contin· ued with Bast takin g th e w in and Sise mo re apparently scoring no points. But in a controversial move, the referee aw arded Sisemore second p lace, tho ugh he still had lost a point to Bast. At the end of the four· lap race Bast came aw ay with the win an d another three p oints, while Sisemo re fell and was aw arded a second-pla ce finish to put him down a point. A qu ick check of the p ro gram showed that th is was to be the only even t where the two would challenge each other all night, an unfortunate circu ms tan ce for Sisemore, who lost onl y one po int all night agains t Bast. As the evening progressed, an d Bast contin- ued his strea k, it became eviden t tha t the only wa y Sisem ore had a chance was to win all of his races and hope that Bast would falter and lose a point somewhere. But Sisemore' s chances almost vaporized again in heat 19. In the event, Bob Hedden, the defending track champion, came off the line like a shot to take the lead from both Sisemore and Dustin Schroeder. In the intensity of the battle a tangle occurred between Sisemore and Schroeder w hich caused a restar t, g iving Sisemore a m uch needed reprieve. A second restart wa s needed after Schroeder looped into Sisemore whi le the pair was coming off turn two. On the final restart, Sisemore blasted off the line first and led the entire race to earn three more points and stay in the hunt. A disappointed Hedden was still able 10 get past Schroeder and salvag e two points, but his hopes for a repeat title grew dimmer. In heat 20, the very last race of th e night, Bast wa s riding aga inst Allen Krause, Brent Werner, and Rich Marcucci. If Werner could win it would put him into a tie with Bob Hicks for fourth and also put Bast and Sisemore into a tie for fits L This , however, was not to be, since Bast continued his super performance and took the win easily 10 post a maximum score and become the 1994 Fast Fridays Track Champion. Sisemore finished the night in second with 14 points and Bob Hedden put up a good defense of his title, finishing third with 13. "Grea t starts, a well prepared track and good luck are what helped me win tonight,· said Bast. Four more for Moore at Carlsbad Motocross By Bruce Forinash CARlSBAD, CA.JULY 16 Eddie Moore won overall in both the 250cc and the Vel Junior classes with all four moto wins during round three of the six·rac e Summer Se ri es on the Ra cing Enterprise s-prom ot ed USGP track at Carlsbad Racewa y. The first moto of the combined 125 and 250cc Jun ior classes began with Moore takin g the inside line on the entrance to the main track and earning a huge holesho t. Moore ro osted the oth er riders in the "short chu te" on his five-yearold Yamaha on the wa y loward the first tum but was foll owed very closel y by Jos h Warner, Manny Aria s, Steve Reeves, an d Tim Olson in positions second through fifth , respectively. Moore, Warner, and Ar ias held the same posi tions for over three laps, bu t not without a gre a t sho w for the nearl y capacity cro wd as the r id ers made repea ted attempts to p ass o ne another. Warner dogg ed Moore and tried 10 pass him time and time again on the up hill sectio ns, but Moore 'w ou ld la unch d own the d ow nhill sections, ga ining d istance and time . Moore nea rly cras hed tw ice on the fam ous Carlsbad Freeway downhill where on the first and second laps , he mad e 4O-foot lea ps on to freshly water ed cla y sections of the track, but he skillfully recovered each time. Finally, on lap four, Moore pu lled away from the pack and never looked back until the chec.kered flag acknowledged his first-mo to win. The seco nd moto began with a bar-banging charge as Joe Rempp led the pack onto the main track with Warner, Reeves, Moore, and Eber ly holding position s second thr ou gh fifth, respec t ivel y. As the leade rs a p p roa ched the main gra nd stands at the end of the fits t lap, Warner t ried to p ass Rem pp bu t nearly crashe d an d d ropped back to third position. Many posi tions changed during the moto, bu t the most impressive moves where made by Moore, who on th ree sepa rate laps, made passes on the Carlsbad Freeway d ownhill.
