Team Valvoline Suz uki member Chuck Graves broke the overall Will ow Sprin gs International Raceway motorcycle lap rec ord on Sunday, June 19, 1994, while winning the WSMC Open Superbike event. Graves bested Eddie Law son 's two-and-a-half-year-old record by 12/1oos of a second, running 1:25.22 around the nine-tum, 2.5-mile road course. Later in the day, Graves Slight gets disqualified from BritishWSB ' won his third consecutive Toyota Cup Unlimit ed F-l event. . Sears Point Raceway combined efforts with Save Ma rt Superm arkets to raise mo re than $26,000 for troubled you ths in Sonoma County, California. Visions For Youth, a Sonom a County youth organization in Northern California, received a check for $26,164 that was raised in a golf tourn amen t. In a hearing held on Tuesday, June 14, the FIM International Jury ruled to exclude Aa ro n Slight (right), Andreas Meklau and Rachel Nico tte from the results of the first rou nd of the Wor ld Championship Superbike Series at Donington Park on May 2. The three were found to be gu ilty of using fuels which were not in accorda nce with Article 63.01 of the FIM Road Racing Technic al Rules. In ad dition to their disqualification, the three ride rs will be fined 1200 Sw iss Francs. Slight and Meklau had finish ed 2-2 and 15-9, respectively, in the two superbike races at Donington, wh ile Nicotte raced in the 600ccSupersport class. By losing his championship points from Donington, Slight slips back to fifth in the series standings with 45 points, 67 points behind championship leader Scott Russell going into the round in Spain on June 19. "They shouldn't have taken my points from the first race at Donin gton," Slight said . "The fuel was tested after the second, race only. They've given us five days to appeal, but printed the revised points anyway. When the appeal is lodged, they will reinstate me un til it is heard by the FIM. The only person to blam e is ELF and they admitted the erro r; they've been very good about the whole situation. I'd done my homework and got the points in the bag at the start of the yea r so I cou ld get ahead in the series when the bike is fully sorted." Tired of those "easy" one-day dualsport rides? Frenchman Yves Demaria (right), of the Pepsi Honda team , and South African Greg Albertyn, o f the Johnson Su zu ki team, traded 1-2 moto finishes at the British MX 250cc GP in Foxhill, England, on June 19. Dem aria was d eclared the overall winner by crossing the finish line firs t in the tiebreaking second moto. However, both riders earned the same amount of points on th e d ay : 37 . However, Albertyn, the . defending champ, mo ved back in to the se r ie s points lead over Belgian Stefan Everts, 221-219. Everts, of the lHK Kawasaki team, posted 3-3 moto finishes for third overall . Belgian Marnicq Bervoets, Albertyn' s teammate, finished fourth overall with 5-5 moto finishes, while American Tallon Vohland, Demaria's teammate, rounded out the top five with 4-7 moto finishes. Chesterfield Yamaha's Donny Schmit dropped to third in the standings after salvaging just eight points on the day; he was nursing a sore shoulder which he had injured before the race. Schmit currently sits third in the series point standings with 168 points, just one point ahead of Demaria. Bervoets is fourth in the standings w ith 149. KTM's Trampas Parker, from Louisiana, went 7-DNF at Foxhill, while Englishman James Do b b (Kaw), a member of the Splitfire/Hot Wheels/Pro-Circuit /Kawasaki Team in the US., flew back from california to compete at his home GP but could onl y muster 24-16 moto finishes. The Peoria Motorcycle Club is promo tin g three AHRMA Vi ntage National events at their facility in Peoria , Illinois , on July 2-3. A motocross will be held on Saturday, July 2, wit h a trial and TT sched uled for Su nday, Jul y 3.
