The 125cc A dass provided some dose racing. In the mud-soaked first moto, Jim Neupert got the hol eshot a nd led for about half a lap before getting squirre ly in the deep slop just past the pla teau jump. Jason Kempel and Ch ris Bense, wh o had been running secon d and th ird up to this point , could not avoid the crossed -up Neu pe rt and they all wen t do wn. This hand ed the lead ove r to Povoln y, who was intent on taking advan tage of the situa tion. A couple of laps in to the mot o, Bense had worked his way back u p to th e seco nd sp o t whiJ e Kempel was in thir d . Kempel spe n t a lap stalking Bense before completing the pass and then setti ng his sights on the leader, Povolny. It app eared as though Povolny ma y have be en in cruise mode , for Kempel got within strikin g d ista nce in a matt er of one lap . Bu t just as soo n as the gap shrun k, Pov oln y wicke d it up an d the two we n t a t it. This battle lasted for the remaind er of the race, wi th PovoIny winning by the barest of margins a t the end . In the second moto, Neupert aga in pilo ted his Kawasaki to the early lead . But before half a lap had gone by, Kempel was at the fron t, Ne upert was seco nd a nd Povolny thi rd . Povoln y had places to go and d isp laced Neupert on the ne xt la p. se tti n g his sigh ts on Kempe l in the lead . Povo lny spent the entire race reeling Kempel in and made it ali worthwhile by laking the lead awa y from him on the last lap for the win. Tim Posp isil daimed th ird .
