At the s ta rt, He ss took th e holeshot, but overshot the trail on the first lap, giving the lead to Deel. By the end of the first lap, Hess had lost more than a minute to Dee l, and it didn't look like he could make up enough time to catch up and regain the lead. But by the fourth and final lap, Hess ha d p ulled up to with in 35 seconds of 0....1 with only five miles lett in the race. The fact tha t this was Deel' s home track gave him a good advantage over Hess, and he crossed the line first for the overall win. while Hess was second overall and topped the 2SOcc AA class. The 2SOcc A class had a grea t race going. as Wesley Moran took the holeshot but lo st the lead after the fustlap to Mike Romans. The battle continued all day with Moran try ing to regain the lead from Romans. Two brothers, Ma rk and Da ryl All ma n, battled be hind the leaders for the entire race , sw itching the third and fourth positions. In the end, Romans held off Moran for the class win while Mark Allman won the sibling rivalry for third place, The Vet A class has featured a battl e between Danny Morrison and Da rry l Campbell at every race, and this one was no d iffe rent. Morrison took the lead at the start wi th Campbell staying too close for comfort. Campbell hounded Morriso n fo r th e e ntire di sta nce, If Mo rrison h ad ma de one mis take, the lead wou ld have been taken by Campb ell. Bu t Morrison was ab le to keep u p h is pa ce a nd take the class, win followed by Campbell and Gil Griggs.
