AMITY, AR, APR. 24 .
Eugene Springston captured the overall win at
round four of the Arkansas Hare Scramble
Championship, which drew its largest turnout
of two-wheeled competitors as it traveled to
Lost Creek Park.
The weather hasn't been particularly kind to
the se ries; all other rounds had been deluged
with rain just prior to or during the races, but
the wea ther was cooperative in Amity.
"Finally, we got a great day for racing and
the cou rse wa s terrific," sa id Springston, who
flew around the course, making the numerous
creek crossings, uphills, pipeline straigh taways
and pine tree thickets look like easy obstacl es as
he cruised 10 the overall win on his Suzuki.
Though the majority of the course was dry,
some places became problem areas. The riders
uncovered several underground springs, making some areas a lmost impassable. Evere tt
Ratliff took advantage of the situation when several riders were stuck in deep, mud d y ruts.
Ratliff put his Honda thro ugh the quagmires 10
take the lead and the overall win in the B division.
