In a phone conversation after the event, Toland s ai d: "I chose to ride for a smaller team over a factory team c'rnon. Who in their right mind would turn down a factory ride?" Toland crashed the team's RC30 in the sixth hour while running fifth, and the team abandoned their efforts in the 11th hour " d ue to a progressively slowing motor."
