NMA World Mini Grand Prix Shaun Perolio w on the opening 125cc Stock Intennediate Division 1 mo to after passing early race leader Ryan Clark. Perolio made his move wi th a picture-perfect block pass. "I got tired of waiting for him to fall," said Perolio, "so 1 dove under him in this turn where he was taking his time." From that point on, Perolio was uncontested for th e moto win. Clark seemed to lose concentration after being passed, and crashed three times before the race was over.Travis Preston worked up from a mid-pack start to finish second. "I was having a hard time with the bike bogging and it hurt m y concentration," said Preston. Billy Akers holeshot the second moto a n d never looked b ack. Akers rode unc ontested for the eventual win, while Perolio moved into second after suffering a lous y start. . Home-town favorite Jason Pa rtridge enjoyed an unc ontested win in the Division 2 opening moto. "Everyone is saying that 1 ha ve the home track advantage," said the Las Vegas resident, "but I have only raced here twice since last year." Je ff WiIloh sp en t much of th e race work ing up from a less-than-pleasing start, bu t fou nd himself second at the race's end. Chris Wheeler and Robbie Horton were third and fourth. Pat McM u lle n holeshot the secon d race and led for a lap before crashing and handing the lead to WiIloh. Horton chased Willoh thro ughout the remainder of the race, but crashed on the last lap w hen he cased on a b ig double. Eric Vallejo picked up second and held off Erick Schnell to the finish. First-mo to Willoh backed up his win with another in the 250cc Stock Intermediate class . This year's event saw the introduction of an all-new Pee Wee class, one for lessexperienced riders between the ages of three and six years old. "It helps keep more of a balance," said Henricksen. "The new class helped attract more riders this year - we had over 40 riders in the new class ." The opening moto saw an early battle develop between Jesse Bow ler, Ch ris Blose and Mike Alessi. Bowler eventually broke free of Blose and settled into a nice lead. Alessi held on to third, while Ryan Roybal and BOris Cantu rounded out the top five. Moto two saw Bowler and Blose pull away, waging a p ersonal war for the moto and overall wins. Bowler was a bit mor e agressive, and took the checkered flag 'fir st.
