Shaun Perolio w on the opening 125cc
Stock Intennediate Division 1 mo to after
passing early race leader Ryan Clark. Perolio made his move wi th a picture-perfect
block pass.
"I got tired of waiting for him to fall,"
said Perolio, "so 1 dove under him in this
turn where he was taking his time."
From that point on, Perolio was
uncontested for th e moto win. Clark
seemed to lose concentration after being
passed, and crashed three times before
the race was over.Travis Preston worked
up from a mid-pack start to finish second.
"I was having a hard time with the
bike bogging and it hurt m y concentration," said Preston.
Billy Akers holeshot the second moto
a n d never looked b ack. Akers rode
unc ontested for the eventual win, while
Perolio moved into second after suffering
a lous y start.
.
Home-town favorite Jason Pa rtridge
enjoyed an unc ontested win in the Division 2 opening moto. "Everyone is saying
that 1 ha ve the home track advantage,"
said the Las Vegas resident, "but I have
only raced here twice since last year."
Je ff WiIloh sp en t much of th e race
work ing up from a less-than-pleasing
start, bu t fou nd himself second at the
race's end. Chris Wheeler and Robbie
Horton were third and fourth.
Pat McM u lle n holeshot the secon d
race and led for a lap before crashing and
handing the lead to WiIloh. Horton
chased Willoh thro ughout the remainder
of the race, but crashed on the last lap
w hen he cased on a b ig double. Eric
Vallejo picked up second and held off
Erick Schnell to the finish. First-mo to
Willoh backed up his win with another in the 250cc Stock Intermediate class .
This year's event saw the introduction
of an all-new Pee Wee class, one for lessexperienced riders between the ages of
three and six years old. "It helps keep
more of a balance," said Henricksen. "The
new class helped attract more riders this
year - we had over 40 riders in the new
class ."
The opening moto saw an early battle
develop between Jesse Bow ler, Ch ris
Blose and Mike Alessi. Bowler eventually
broke free of Blose and settled into a nice
lead. Alessi held on to third, while Ryan
Roybal and BOris Cantu rounded out the
top five.
Moto two saw Bowler and Blose pull
away, waging a p ersonal war for the
moto and overall wins. Bowler was a bit
mor e agressive, and took the checkered
flag 'fir st. Ch ris Eh nat finsihed th ird:
while Cantu, Ricky Hemme and AleSSI
batied over fourth. Cantu got the nod at
~
the finish.
