Swis s Na tio n al Champ ion Philip pe Dupasquier battled through the pack to ' break into the top five when he passed Whitley. Gaddis and Goodman repeated their 125cc main finishes in the 250cc main , ta kin g th e checkered flag 1-2 . Morga secured third whi le Tinney and Du pasquier fini shed fou rth and fifth, respectively. Saturday night's 250cc main event proved that Gad dis was unstop pable at Indy - he holesho t and led start to fin is h wi thout a c ha llenge . Goodman s tayed fa i rly close b u t w as ne ver a threat, while Morga moved up to compete with Whitl ey for third. The injured Whitle y was unable to hold his position and Morga flew by in the rough whoop se ction . Dupasqu ier im m e d ia tely p us hed Whitley for his fourth-place spot and wa s able to get by before the w hite-flag lap . Gaddis took home the win and all the honors for the weekend, w hile Goodman held onto h is points lead w it h a second-place main event finis h. Bell, Bowman double at Orlando Motocross By Lou Whitney ORLANDO, FLJAN.30 Mini racers Jason Bell a nd Jona than Bow man scored two class wins each as nearl y 200 riders ignored the threa t of se vere th understorms to a tte nd th e ·th ird round of the So u th Flo ri da Motocross 1994 Championship Series at Orla ndo Motocross Park. Bell raced in th ree dasses at the eve n t, taking the wi n in the 60cc (9-11) and 80cc (7-11) clas",-'S, an d coming in third in the high ly compe titive Super Mini class. Bowm an put on a tremen dous show for the crow d by capturing the wins in the 80cc (12-15) and Super Mini classes. Both riders ha d missed the first tw o round s because th ey w ere com pe ting in the AMA Florida Wi nter Series b ut pla n to co mpe te in th e rest of th e south Florida series. Seven-year-old Brianna Millsaps, the cu rrent series poin ts lead er in the Pee Wee Stock and 60cc Women's classes, took the win in the 60cc Wo me n's clas s over Hea ther Sawchuck a nd Sha ri To rr egrosa . In the Pee Wee Stock (7-9) class, Millsa ps took the win in -the first mo to but wa s upstaged in the second m oto by As hl ey Maloy, who took the win and the overall. And y Barrett, Zachary Meek s a n d Ch r is t op h e r Mah oney rounded ou t the top five. Fifty-year-old Tom Bragg rode to wins in the 35+, 40+ and and 250cc C d asses. Proc ida SAN B ERNARDINO, CA, IAN. 30 Leo Sau l not only domina ted the Vet Interm ed iate class, but also passed and led the Vet Expert cla ss during the op en ing la p of the Ca lifornia Racing Club 's Diam ondhead Grand Prix at Glen Helen Racewa y en route to winnin g th e Vet In termedi ate class. Vet inte rm ed ia te Karl Allen led the co rnbined Expe rt / Inter med iate class through tu m one and out onto the mo tocross section of the course, only to have Saul come soaring past him ove r the grand stand double jump as Allen single-jumped the obstacle . As the rid er s d isap pea red onto th e ba ck section of th e track. the expe rts followed the intermediate ride rs. Behind Allen were ha rd-char gin g exper ts Jim Hanson a nd John Ferro , w it h the remaind e r of b oth classes only second s behind. Thing s began to change as the rider s reappeared. Saul was still out fron t, but Hanso n was now breathing down his neck and Ferro was in third, followed by james Coppedge, Chris Leiker and vet expert Russell Reilly. wh o was making his way up throug h the ran ks after a poor sta rt . As the front-r unne rs a p p roa ched th e ju mps on the fro nt section of the tr ack, Reill y moved into fourth overall, d isplacing Allen and closi ng on th e lead trio. Sa u l's lea d beg an to shrink d rastically. On the third lap, Hanson was in the po int position with Saul a stron g second. A lap later, Sau l once aga in took the lead with the expe rts nipping at his heels, and for the next two laps Saul led the m arounel the Glen Helen race course un til Reilly, who had dispa tched both Hanson an d Fer ro in th e back p or tion of the co u rse, pow ered by Saul in the deep who ops lead ing to the "Animal Leap" to take comma nd . A few p lace'S back , Allen seemed to get his seco nd w ind and began to reel in the trailing expe rt riders, passing Ferro with two laps remaining and then Hanson on the last lap. As hard as Allen charge-d, Saul wasn' t backing off and continued to ride hard on the last lap, comp leting the race with a full straightaway lead over Allen. Reilly took the checke red , the Expe rt w in an d the overall victory while the next two spo ts were occu pied by intermediates Saul and Allen, wi th Hanson and Ferro roundi ng ou t the top five s lo ts .
