As the leaders held their pos itions,
Jeff Pestana moved past Crumb to take
over the third spot. On the final lap, Pestana closed on Brandes, but was not able
to make a move. Parsons continued his
charge from a poor start to take fifth
awa y from Jimmy Lavorci . At the finish
the order remained: Lewis, Brandes,
Crumb and Pestana.
In the second moto, Rusty Ho lland
led the field to the first tum as Brandes,
Cory Keeney and Spu d Walters trailed .
Lewis was foun d scrapping for position
back in the pa ck, but he quickly let it all
hang ou t an d started flying throu gh the
field. Up fro n t, Bra ndes an d Keeney
slithered past Holland to take the lead
spots while WaIters an d Hoeft fought
over fourt h . WaIt ers, co ming o ff a n
injury, sta rted to fade; Lewis and Crumb
took ove r.
By the second lap, that du o moved in
to challe nge Holland for thi r d . After
p ick in g off Holla nd, Le w is wo r ked
every lap thereafter to pass his way into
the lead . First he reeled in Keeney, and
by the halfway point was in con tention
for the lead . Lewis mo tore d past Brandes and never looked back, takin g the
wi n and th e over all vic to ry ah ead of
Brandes, Holland and Keeney.
In the 125cc Pro class, Team Green's
Casey Johnson posted 2-1 fin ishes to
a
take top honors .
