PALMDALE,CA, DEC. 5 Brian Miller used a two- mo to sweep to collect the 125cc Beginner class overall win at the opening round 01 Ca lifornia Racing Club's Tri-Race Series at Los Ange les County Raceway. In moto one, Bob Ha usma n wo n the drag race to the first tu rn aboard his O'Neal/Simi Honda-backed CRl25. Miller edged out Greg Benton for second w ith Keny Terracciano and Dan Eckman in tow. Miller out-jumped Hausman for the lead before the completion of lap one, and immediately p ulled away from a tight ba ttle for second. Hausm an, Ter racciano and Benton went at it for a couple of laps before Terracciano was ab le to est ablis h do minance and p ull away. Terraccia no reeled in Miller and started to make things interesti ng but ran ou t of time, endi ng up a couple of bike lengths sho rt when the chec kers fell. Benton and Hausman slugged it out all the way to the finish with Hausman getting the up per hand for third. Bento n blasted to the second moto holesh ot wi th Miller and Eckman in hot p ursuit. Miller was ted little tim e and shot pa st Benton on the opening lap . Terracciano followed Miller 's cue and wen t around both Eckma n and Benton to run in the second spot. Miller .:wd Terraccia no hooked up together and sta rted disappearing from the restof the field. The comp lexion of the race s uddenly cha nged on the fourt h lap when Terraccia no went down hard off a jump. Benton, who inhe rited second p lace, had h is han ds full with Michael Rowland . Rowland 's pressuring of Benton had increased their pace eno ugh to wipe out MilIer's l (}-second lead within a couple of laps. The last lap became a sprint to the finish for Miller. Benton had closed to within striking distance while constan tly lookin g over his shoulder to keep an eye on Rowlan d, but Miller held him off for the win. A grea t last-lap charge by Hausman had h im flyi ng p as t Rowl and in the whoops and close to Benton's rear fende r at the checkered flag for third . Benton's 4-2 score ea rned him the second place trophy over Hausman 's 3-3 rides. Results PjW 8-2: 1. Dillon H um e (Yam); 2. Rya n Roybal (yam); 3. Pwrles Messer (Yam); 4. Denn is Howell (Suz ); S.
