If Diem won, Majeski had to finis h secon d , which is what ha ppened, but it was no easy task in this sport where luck is just as impo rtant as skill. Other class winners were Corey Hormes, with a th ird -st ra ight 55cc (7-8), and Donn ie Mullen, in the 8Occ. Also taking a third-straight title was another Mike Lynch Transportationsponso red rider, Paul Lynch, in th e 125cc. Geo rgie Price clinched his third-straight 250cc Pro crown, wh en points leader and multi-class champ Rodney Farris was involved in a fourrider tangle at the start of the sem i and didn't transfer to the main . Results TIMONIUM, MD, NOV, 11>-27 Warren Diem put on a late-se ries charge to take his third-s traight 250cc clas s win as the Cockeysville Op timist Club /Baltimore County Trail Riders closed out their 18th annual indoor short track series at the Maryland State Fairgrounds with a pos sible view of the future of this event; a Frid ay / Satu rd ay doubleheader. As the 250s came to the line, Tom Majeski led Warren Diem by five-and-a-half points. If Diem won, Majeski ha d to take second for the win. The ve teran speedway cha m p ion Diem grabbed a length lead heading into the first tum, escap ing the usual bottleneck. Majeski emerged in second, with Shane Merryman, Adam Weiss and Mark H eise r b eh in d . The field quickly spread out, and Diem cruised to the win. The orily change came wi th Weiss taki ng third just past the halfway point. As the riders came to the line for the last group of finals, only three class titles remained undecided: the 55cc (4-6), the 250c< and the 360cc. Gary Conklin had to finish at least third to clinch the 55cc (4-6) over Brian Philli ps , if Phillips won . Conklin took care of the problem by w inning the main. Joe White had to win to take the 360cc champions hip from Ch arles Majeski, who managed to fall twice in his semi, but Whit e just made the final and gated slowly, finishing four th, which wasn't good enough to take the class title.
