LarT)' Sweeten held off the cha llenges of Taylor
White to take the 250cc race at the second of six
events.
Uke last week. Swee ten was first off the line,
this time with Taylor Whi te, Warren Diem and
Mike Mester close behi nd. Wh ile Diem fell, Brett
Friedel bumped his way by Mester for third. Up
front, the battl e was between a pair of masters,
wh o between them have the last four class titles.
Whit e tried se veral times to bump his way by
Sw eet en , but to no avai l. Towa rd s th e end,
White went into a hold ing pall ern. while Friedel
got close r in the late laps.
The 250cc Pro was also a masters bailie, pi tting two of the winningest rid ers in the 18-yea r
history of the event. Georgie Price is the current
master, and Rodn ey Farris the past master. Price
had his Yamaha in front .the en tire way with Far ris righ t behind but un able to take the lead a way.
In the m id -part of the race, a battle ove r th ird
raged between Steve Burkh older, Ken Yodec and
Dav id Reeves. Burkholde r took the spo t.
In all but one of the othe r classess last week 's
winner also won tonig ht . Th e only ot her new
winner was Brian Philli ps in the 5Sec (4-6) di vision. Corey Honnes had a tough time ge tting by
Danny Gu ise p p e to take the 55cc (7-8) cla ss ,
while Do nn ie Mullen fou ght off the la te challenges of Jak e Johnson in the SOccclass. After

Scoll Land got his bike fired up the quickest
to lea d O'Donnell, Dav id Barlow and Jo ey
Ozarek fro m the dead -engine start. Land controlled the lead for two laps befo re O'Donnell
was able to reel him in on the faster sections of
the track. Once around Land, it was clear sailing
for O'Donne ll, as he slowly pulled away to easily take the win after 45 minutes on the demanding san d track.
Both Oza rek and Ba rlow got around Land
before the ha lfway po int in the race to fight over
the runner-up position. Land fell back slightly,
then seemed to get his second wind as he got on
the gas and repassed Ozarek and Barlow for second place with just a coup le of laps remai n ing.
Bar low stayed within s triking d istance bu t
ended up finishing third behind the B&B Cyclesspo nso red Land .

Labrador quickly worked up from his fifth-place
start to challenge Reid for the lead by the second
lap . The two riders went at it hard for the next
30 minutes un til Labrador backed off the pace.
Reid continued to p ush himself and greeted the
checkered flag with a 1Q-second lead.

Greenleaf jams at Aztec MX

Suzuki 125 rider Joseph Greenleaf clai med the
12Scc Jr. win a t Aztec Motocross 's local championshi p fina l.
The first 12SccJun ior mo to saw Honda rider
Jerrell Guillory pull the holeshot followed by
Greenleaf and. Ya maha-mo u nted Jeff Mon toya.
Halfway through the first lap, Greenleaf fell on a
wet downhill a nd was run ov er by Mon toya.
With Greenleaf and Montoya down, Gu illory
went uncontes ted for the m oto win. Montoya
and Greenleaf remounted and finis hed seco nd
and third.
Moto two left the starti ng area, and this time
it was Greenleaf wi th the lead followed by Montoya an d Guillory. The lead trio circled the track
wide open, all within tw o bike lengths of each
other . On the second lap, Guillory dove ins ide of
Montoya and slam med in to Green lear. The
move caused Greenleaf to slide out and fall back
to third p lace. On the next lap, Guillory forced .

Greenleaf cruised h om e with the mo ta win.
Guillory rode to the checkers in seCond p lace bu t
was d isq ua lified d ue to h is actions in the co r·
ners . The overall wi n we nt to Greenleaf with

Fields in third.
In the 250cc Pro class, hom etown favo rite,
Jules Fa rmer, Cali fornia n Dave Kopels and
mounta in-bike r Greg Herbol d Jocked h orns.
Moto one saw Kope ls pull th e ho les ho t over
Fanner and He rbold . Fanner dogged Kopels for
the en tire moto but never found a way around
him, and Kopels took the win.
In mo to two, Kopels holeshot wi th Herbold
in second. Far me r man aged third b ut quickly
sl ipped into fourth as Da ve Culli nan , a 250cc
lntennediate, rode into thir d . It d idn't take long
for Farmer to ge t by Cullinan a nd He rbold.
Fanner pursued Kopel s for two laps. Fanners
an d Kopels went d own the long stra ight and
into the p receding left-hand tum. Kopel s rod e
the tight ins ide and Fanner railed the outside.

Alan Randt, fonner lSDE medalist and Team
Manager, overcame a rough sta rt to capture the
overa ll win at the 18th Annual Tu rke y Creek
Enduro.
Randt d ro pped 26 poi n ts over th is yea r's
94.7-mile run. Randt had the worst score after
the first section. Ho wever, Rand t rega ined his
composure and went on to take the win by one
point.

Jeff Fredette wo u ld ha ve ad ded an other
Turkey Creek win to his long list of victori es had
he not rod e into a secret check a minute hot. Fredelle was not the only rid er to feel the heat of
Trailboss Jer ry Yoder 's check placement skills.
At secre t check number two over 20 % of the
field arrived at least one minute hot. With his
two-point penalty for arriving early, Jeff had a
score of28.
KTM pilot Brian Loh man h ad some bad
luck, losing his score card somew here in the
Indiana woodlands. After club members tallied
the back-up shee t rec ords and added a 10"10
penalty per AMA rul es, Lohman ended up with
a total of 30 po ints .
Steve Narel captu red the overall A title with
a score of 27 poi nts . Nare! had actually beaten
Randt's sco re in the first eme rge ncy check by
over one and a half m inut es. Narel said that he
was scored incorrectly in the firs t check at 4.0 .
miles. After cosulting the bac k-u p sheets and
check crew personneL officials let NareJ's score
stand.
Ove rall B winner, Rob McGee, burned two
checks and still bested the rest of the B competitiors by a t least four points. McGee's score was a
