Things started to ge t interesting on the next lap as a very d etennined Crispin began to cho p away at second- place Phelps, and eventua lly pa ssed him . About the only movement for the frontru nners in the next co up le o f la ps wa s not good fo r Phe lp s as he bega n to move backwards and, du rin g his pi tstop on the sixth lap, had decided to call it a day . During the lat er stages of the race, Honda mounted Crispin s ta r te d to put on a cha rge towards the leader McCann. With the help of his fathe r, McCann wa s able to notice tha t Crispin was d osing. McCann pu t his head back down' a n d p roceed ed to put e ve n mo re d ista nce, between himself and Crisp in to finish an eventua l .39 seco n ds a head of the Honda-moun ted rid er on the tenth and final lap.
