Bostrom doubles at Lodi IT By Mindyz Mac LODI. CA, ocr.2 Eric Bostrom won both the Pro main event and the Open A main event at th e Lodi M/C- promoted IT race at Lod i Cycle Bowl. Frank Garcia grabbed the holeshot and held his position for a lap and a half ahead of Rob Damron, Jim Poff, and Eric Bostrom. Damron took th e lead away from Garcia through th e right-hander as he he ld the throttle on just long enough going through the infield. Damron led and started pulling away as the battle went on behind him wi th Garcia ho lding on to the Second spot, and John Hlebo and Bostrom gett ing around Poff for the thi rd and fo urth positions. By lap s ix, Damro n, ridi ng a Vinta g e Twin Yamaha, lost the front end of the big machine as he ex ited the hairpin turn, lea vin g Hlebo to in heri t the lead follow ed by Garcia, Bostrom, and Poff. On the white-flag lap, Hlebo dumped hi s Honda in the same spo t as Damron a n d Bostrom we nt on to take the win with Garcia and Poff in a strong second and th ird, respectively. Action in the PeeWee Modified class was inte nse as the six rid e rs in the mai n event p ushed their bikes to the limits on the long IT course. Vincent Gu isande pulled the holeshot at the green light wi th Travis Fou lger and Daniel Je nki ns in tow . On lap th ree Gui sa ncle went wide goi ng into th e tree tu rn a nd al most Jost con tro l, b ut was able to keep th e bike on two wheels, thu s allowing Jenkins and Foulge r to get by. As [en kins slowed down to mak e th e tigh t left hand tu m, Gu isande flew into the tum, used Jenk ins as a back stop and knocked him down, leavi ng Foulger no where to go but the outsi de. Guisande went on to take the wi n, bu t was later disqualifie d, leaving Foulger with the wi n and Chad Ross in seco nd wi th Stewart Barber Jr. taking over the third spot, Res ul ts PIW STK:1. Bu t over the years the eve n t has begun to lean mo re toward the stoc k class, d ue in par t to the influence of AHRMA . Man y racers com pete on the ir stock CZ machines in the reg ular Vintage classes all year long since the stock CZ mee ts a ll the form a l s uspensio n criteria for 1974 or older machines. Gr eene was crowned CZ World Champion after two hea ted motos of racing w ith Denny Vornd ran while Nash raced to a pa ir of class victor ies in both the 250 and 500cc Expert classes . Vorndran look ed like a sure winner during the opening 250cc Stock race as he led every lap except for the most important lap - the last one. Greene, who lu rked inside of the top three' for most of the race, p icked up the pace on the fina l lap . Greene saw his cha nce with a half a lap to go in the moto. By the fourth lap, Greene was back in control. Greene maintained a speedy pace and pulled away fo r the even tual mot o a nd ov e ra ll win. Vornd ran se ttled for second while Doughty had prob lem s an d dropped ba ck to fo urth behind Louis Harker, who was riding a big bore Cz. Nash wa s king of the Expert classes a fter a four-moto swee p of both 250/5OOcc Exper t classes.
