Shepard had pulled a comfortable lead out front, but Reed was on the gas and d osing fast By the halfway point Shepard could feel Reed breathing d own his neck. Reed ma de the kill qu ick and painless by grabbing an inside line to take the lead . Shep ard tried to la tch on. bu t Reed pulled a w ay . At th e finish , Reed took the wi n with Shep ard in second . Back in the field, Tony Green edged ou t McConnick for the third spo t. In the second mota Reed faced a chall enge a fte r going dow n on th e third lap. Shepard p ull ed on e his patented hol eshots to lead the fie ld, Reed and John Turner gave cha se. Reed wasted little time and jumped in to the lead during the second lap . Shepard stayed close in second . Reed started to ride his own race un til he cras hed; Shep ard gracious ly took over the lead as Reed p icked h ims elf o ff the ground . Shepard's lead was sh ort -lived as Reed was riding like a madman and qu ickly closed the gap. With two lap s to go, Reed retoo k the lead and ne ver loo ked back. Reed took th e overall as Shepard had to sett le for second. Green crossed the line with third p lace honors. Something you do n't see everyday is sidecar races , but th is Sund ay LACK hosted a field of these crazy patrons. The first race saw the team of Ed Hall and Brandy Budd flip their massive machine on the first lap and still manage to bang themselves into the third spot by the end of the race. Budd a nd Hall came back to win the second mota . Don Harte and Jason Kerbs were the victors of the da y after posting 1-2 mota finishes. They led the first mota from sta rt to finish.
