Potent Office.AUrighb reserved, Well, here I am up in the Northwest, left all alo ne in 1994 with no supercross in the Seattle Kingdome. My life now has a hole in it. The Camel Supercross is gon e because ou r representatives said there was to be no more cigarette advertising in the Kingdome. Before my friends and I burn d own the Kingdo me, do you have any sugges tions that might bring supercross back to Seattle? Hey, we do have the world's largest wooden- framed dome down in Tacoma, Washington. Bart Wid man Pt. Angeles, WA A bout all you can do is write or plume your King County, Washington, representatives and vo ice your displeasure regarding the tobacco ban.. .Editor. Did you like it? I am the president of Firs t Au to Sports Tele vi sion, the co m pany .whic h has bro ught 40 hours of AMA road racing, AMA motocross racing, WERA Pro Series racing and World Grand Prix racing to Prim e Network and ESPN in 1993. We are cu rren tly making o ur 1994 pl ans and would like to hea r fro m the read ers of Cycle News about our covera ge o f each of these racing bod ies. Specifica lly, we would like to kn ow read ers' reaction to our live coverage of the U.s. GP at Laguna-Seca Raceway on Pri me Network. Letters from readers will influence our decisions for our 1994 motorcycle racing coverage. Dan iel T. Murphy Denver, CO Letters can be sent to Murphy at Fast Auto Sport s Television , 1625 Broadway, Suite 550, Denver, CO 80202. Let him know what you think .. .Editor. Loved it, but... I loved read ing y our cov erage of the 1993 U.s . GP in the September 22 issue. It was very informa tive, but I d id see one small error in the Jon Cornwell and Chris D'Aluisio 12Sec GP side bar story. You wrote tha t "He (Cornwell) w as be ing chopped and diced by the best quarter-liter riders in th e world a n d there was nothing he could d o abo ut it." Unless he was out there racing against the 250cc machin es, it should have read "eighth-liter ride rs." It's hard to imagine those little mach ines runn ing 1:33 lap times around Laguna Seca . The 125cc class blew my mind. I hope the y'll be back. . Jina Seely Redding,CA l ina, you're correct. We goofed... Editor. Where's the calamari? After getting back from a vacation that included the U.S. GP at Laguna Seca, I wanted to say that this year's GP was the best I've ever been to. From moving the concessions to a bigger area, to an excellent program, to the great aerobatic de monstrations between the events, to the mail-o rder so uvenirs, it was a great effort. Even the police were mo re polite this year than in p revious visits. A lot of thinking wen t in to making th e place more user friendly. The only th in g I missed were the calamari stands. Where were they? The racing was gr eat, an d the addition of th e 125 s to the program w as great. The only cloud over the event wa s the absence of Wayne Ra iney. I hope and pray that he p ulls out of this one. In con cl usi on, I hope that Kenny Roberts did well en o u gh to do a GP again and I hope that he is even more successful (more people) next yea r. With the show that was put on this year, the GP should be even bigger next year. Dick Winningstad Beaverton, OR Ricky don't lose that number As a long-time fan o f AMA Grand National racing, it has given me special satisfaction to see my favorite racer, Ricky Graham, secure hi s th ird title. Ricky ' s to tal domina tion of the sport this year h as been a delight - b ut not really much of a surprise - to his fans, and he has been a real inspira tion to all of us tr ying to keep focused at mi dcareer. Th e w ay I learned tha t Ricky had clinche d the 1993 title wa s' un iqu e and sa tisfying . On September 8 (two days after the Springfield Mile) I was beating my wa y wes t on 1-80 somewhere wes t of the Continen tal Divid e, on the next-tolas t leg of a cross-country putt. My vacation was nea rly over, and I began to think again about the real world as I left it on August 18. It occurred to me that having been on t he roa d fo r three weeks, I hadn't heard any race n ews since Peoria. About that time I closed on what appeared to be a motor racing transporter ahead. As I drew nearer, I noted that it said "Undo" on the back. Could it be ? Sure enough it was RG's rig, and propped up in the driver's side window was the Number One plate. Hey , Ricky, that was me on the Yamaha tw in who passed you back in Wyoming, giving you the thumbs up. Congrats on the three-peat, champ!
