In the Handicap main it was Faria on the Shoei /Oilzall /Scott/Terry Cable Weslake. who came from the 40 yard line and ra n side by side with Mark Ha n nah fo r three laps before he could ge t around . After that it was clear sailing for Faria all the way to the checke red. Hannah looked to have se cond, bu t Chris Manchester cam e fro m the 60 yard line, moving th ro ugh traffic like a guided m issile and took over second with three laps left. Manchester ran ou t of time and could n' t ca tch Faria . ji m Estes also became a spoiler as h e gra b bed third from Hannah at the line. Charlie Venegas came ou t of the nu mbe r two gate and got the jump on the field in the Scratc h main . Manchester locked into second, and with the white flag showing, mad e the move that gave hi m a very close win. ' Venegas settled for second, an d Faria topped Steve Lucero for the third. Rich TUCSON, AZ, SErf. 4 Ken Howden rode steadily to w in bo th motos to capture the 250cc Begin ner class a t Mountai n ViewMX. Steve Somerville pu lled the holeshot in the first moto of the 250cc Beginner class but soon lost it to Shane Anderson , who could hold his speed bette r on the dou bles and triples. Ada m Bode had top position going into the hole but took a myopic exami natio n of the soil coming out, followed by a distant look a t the rear end of the rest of the bikes for most of the first lap. Howden came out of the hole in fourth position b ut rode mistake free to take the lead on lap five and hold it the rest of the way. josh Barney followed Howden in the climb through the pack but coul dn' t get by Anderson and had to settle for third . In th e seco nd moto, Som erv i lle again claimed the holeshot with Howden second, but the double jumps agai n were Somerville's undo-ing, an d Howden flew by him on lap three to take the lead and leave the rest of the pack fighting for seco nd p lace. Meanwhile, John Rogers, who got off to a very bad start in moto one and was not much better in moto two, worked his way up from fifth to second by pas sing Bode on lap three and Toby Squ ires on lap six. Squires then took a bad spill on the doubles, and Bode pus hed Rogers all the way bu t could not take second spo t away from him. Roger's improved perfo rmance in mota two gave hi m second place overall with steadfast rider josh Barney taking third . Bobby H edden (left) dominated the track championship at Au burn Speedway. Jeff Land is (138) battled M ike Wein in g (76) fo r the Mountain Vi ew MX win. Ti m Barker took comma nd of the 250cc Nov ice cJass in the firs t moto and finished going away. Chuck Bisceglie held a solid second until the sixth lap when he mad e a mistake and lost h is advantage to Seth Ringenbach a nd Harry Nevel. Bisceglie was la te r p as sed b y jason Alegria and Willie Giroir . In the second moto Barker took the holeshot again bu t went down on the second lap, recovering in seventh position . Nevel took the lead bu t then had his own problems wh ich dropped him to sixth posi tion. Ringenbach comb ined h is competi tors bad fortune with his own persistent rid ing skills to work his way from a sixth place start to the lead on lap five, a lead which he held to the end, givi ng hi m the overall w in. Sean Green, out of contention in the first moto, finished second behind Ringenbach, wi th Bisceglie th ird.
