Club's Fr id a y n ight motocro ss h e ld a t Lo s
Angeles County Raceway.
Wes Dell po wered to the first moto holesh ot
with Tarwater hot on his heels. Tarwater immediately started ho un d ing Dell for th e lead and
made the pass at the comp letion of the first lap .
Tarwater opened up a slight lead ove r Dell, who
now h ad his h and s full w ith Leg loo. Leg loo
d ogged De ll a nd found hi s way pa st o n the
fourth lap . Tarw ater's lead shrank to nothi ng as
Legloo opened up the throttle and closed in. On
the final circuit Legloo let it all han g ou t, making
several a ttem p ts to tak e over th e lead o n ly to
com e up a wheel length short at the finish.
The seco n d m ot e s ta rt wa s a repeat o f th e
first, with De ll leading Tarwater a nd Leg loo.
Legloo shot a round Tarwater and jumped past
Dell at the Kal-Gard tower to take the lead within the firs t lap . On ce out fron t, Legloo qui ck ly
pulle d out a five-second lead that h e would
mainta in unti l the ch ecke re d fla g . De ll was
being heavily pressu red by Tarwater for second.
Johnson worked up from a m idpack start to join
the battle for the runner-up positio n. Dell suec u m be d to the p est erin g of Ta rw a ter and
allow ed him pas t only to run off the track and
let Joh nson push him back another position to
fo u r th . Tarwater co u ld n ' t m a ke a de nt in
Leg loo's lead and had to settle for the second
place trophy over Johnson's 4-3 score .
Jeff Willoh totally do minated the first 125cc
Interm ed iate mota. The real acti on was in the
race for seco nd between Chris Allen and Scott
Johnson. Th e two r id ers were glued to each
other. Johnson was all over Allen looking for a
way aro und until th e final lap when Johnson
had a slight off-track excursion that forced him
to finish third.
Willoh was looking to run awa y and hid e in
the seco nd race but went down in the back section early in the mote. Allen inherited the lead
wi th Johnson his sh a d ow. Allen got a sh o rt
break w h en Johnson crashed, but now had
Willoh closing in fast. Willoh flew past Allen to
take an uncontested win.

Brian Miller hooked the big one at the
Muskegon Motor cycle Cl ub's last race of the

third time this seaso n. Miller not only captured
the b ig mone y in th e Pro class but cleaned
everyone out in th e Combo class as well. Onl y
2/10 seconds decided who would sit on the pole
as heat one sa w Paul Kops put the checkered
flag away with a straightaway to spare.
Hea t tw o paired up Miller and Jack Mayer .
The two hooked han dl ebars for eight laps, but
Miller e ven tu ally took the w in that would seat
him on the inside po le for the final.
At the start of the ma in Ron Forstner was
qu ickest on the clutch and was just as quickly sent
back to the pe nalt y line. Duan e Stanick blasted

only to collide with Jack Mayer in tum one, bringing out ano ther red flag and giving Fors tner p lenty of company on the pena lty line. The third time

and head ed for the jump in the lead . As lap one
came to a close Miller had already opened up an
adva ntage on the rest of the hopefu ls.
Kops was busy fighting off his broth er Kip
for second place money when Mayer recove red

lap four . Kip han ded third p lace over to Mayer a
lap later whe n a bro ken cha in took him out of
the race. With Miller we ll out of reach, Mayer set
his sigh ts on the last rem dinin g Kop s in the Pro
field . On lap 10 Mayer dra fted past Kops on the
fron t stretch, and the race for secon d was over .
Duane Sta nick, wh o had started with Mayer off
the pe na lty line, p icked off seve ra l riders in the
