eEVENTS a ~ l-t CJ S .8 c, ~ Tim Ferry (29) chased down Todd Gardner (377) at the West Palm Beach MX. Don Upton (632) dominated the Pro classes at the Baron a Oaks CM C Trans-Cal MX. with wi ns in bo th Pro class motos and also wo n a ju m p styling con test . As Ferry is a consistent top-ten fin isher in Nati on al 125cc motocr oss events, it was no su rp rise to see h im run away from the pa ck in the firs t of two motos in the m on ey class . G rabbing the ho lesh ot a nd distancing himself fro m the com petitio n seemed to be rou tine for Ferry, but the m id-race aerial display he p ut o n was any· th ing but routi ne. Following ha lf a lap behind Ferry was a fas t running Todd Gard ne r, a nd chasing Ga rd ner was Ryan Dean. In spite of some fast action, no passes were made. The sec o nd Pro moto began with Gard ner g ra b bing the h oles h ot over Fe rry a n d Dean. Gardner was abl e to hold Ferry a t bay for fou r laps until Ferry threw a b lock p ass in fro nt of hi m, high sid ing him of f the trac k. Gard ner was unable to ge t back on the move unti l Fer ry was almost on top of him again Gard ner tried hard to get in sync and did a trem en dou s job hold ing o ff Ferry fo r tw o la p s until Fe rry w as able to slide by on a whooped sectio n. Gardner continued on to finish be tween Ferry and Dean , but down a lap. During the hal ftime intermssion was a jump styling con test for an y rider B class or better. All riders put on a great show but were no competition for Ferry who flew his RRP Yama ha across the fin ish -line table top side ways, cleari ng the entire jump. Results .... l!") M same lap Malan tossed away third place through the treacherous whoops. By the end of the moto things started to calm down as Upton cruised across the finish. Parsons ended up second and Clowe rs finished third . During the second m ot o Me tz ger made Upton earn the win as the two riders went at it throughout the nine-lap race. Upton led the field into the first tum to what looked like another run away victory. Greg Schnell held second for the fi rs t lap unti l Metzge r took his PPS Suzu ki into second. Metzger qu ickl y reeled in Upton and latched onto his rear fende r. The two riders waged a private war as they went at it lap after lap until the end. Metzger was going berserk trying to pass Upton. At one point the two riders locked handlebars over a large set of doubles and mi raculously they both cheated potentia l disas ter. When all was said and done, Upt on cam e ou t on top. Schnell held on for third as Malan came ou t on top of a hard foug h t ba ttle for fourth. eN PRO : 1. Tim Fer ry (Ya m); 2. Ryan De an (Hon); 3. Todd Gardner (Hon) . 60: 1. Scott McAlpin (Ka w ); 2.
