Force pushed their way under Virginia Breeze coming onto the front straight to take over second and put some pressure on Team Su zuk i. But then Virg inia Breeze repaid the favor by passing both Force and Team Suzuki to again take the on-track lead on the next lap. Not feelin g co m fo r tab le o n th e damp track, Team Suzuki's Ha ll decided to back off and not throwaway the team's thr ee-lap l ead. While the track wa s still drying, Hall continued to let trailing bikes battling for positions get by as he con tinued to stay out of ha rm's way and p rotect the team 's lead. "1 had a front row sea t for some terrific racing," Hall said later. As the laps rolled on and time ra n down, the track dried and Hall picked the pace back up . He blew by the fourbike battle for third and was closing on the front-runners wh en the Anderson/ Jardine machine went down hard coming onto the fron t straight. The race was red -flagged for a fourth time. With less than 30 minutes remaining, the race was called. Team Su zuki End urance took the overall win and a record ninth title with 161 laps in the books. Virginia Breeze Racin g had ba ttled ba ck to fini sh secon d, three la ps behind the w inning team .
