In th e fir st 125cc Stock Pro class moto, Deeg an took the early lead, but was passed ea rly on by Latham. The Te a m Green / A XO /Ra ce Tech /Renthal /Dunlop/Tsubaki /Scott/ Sammy White's Kawasaki/Bill's Pipesbacked Latham led from that point on, w it h Dee g an notching second , well ah ead of Su zuki' s Da vid Pin gree. In moto two, Deegan again led from the start, trailed by Latham. Latham nearly looped out over the finish-line jump, but managed to sav e it. Deegan wasn't as lucky, as he slid his front end in a tum shortly after a nd wen t off the tr ack , allowing Latham into the lead. Latha m led fro m th at poin t on, wi th Pingree securing second. Latham was onl y able to ad vance as high as ninth in the relatively short moto, and Kawasaki's Derek Na tvig, fo u r th in moto one, fi nished third for third overall. "Brian got in front and I knew I ha d my work cut out for me, but he had a little bad luck and I got by," said Latham. . Latham used consistent 2-2 moto finishes to win the 125cc Modified Pro class. Deegan holeshot moto one and led from start to finish ahead of Latham and Kawasaki rider Cory Keeney. Things looked good for Deegan when he again nabbed the holeshot in moto two, but he swapped when land ing from a d ouble a nd went down, letting Keene y assume the point. Keeney then high-sided in a corne r that troubled him all week, and Latha m took over. After an eighth-place finish in moto one, Pingree was on the gas, and powered by Latham to w in the moto. Latham earned the overall ahea d of Deegan, who was fifth in the moto. Deegan led the muddy first moto of the 250cc Stock Pro division from beginning to end, with Latham claiming second after a moto-Iong battle with Suzuki rider Anthony Pocorobba. Pocorobba had to back off on the final lap after getting doused with mud, and crossed the line, goggle-less, in third. Deegan again led the entire second moto, though Latham challenged him throughout all six laps. Latham made a last-ditch effort to get by at the end, bu t had to settle for second in the moto and second overall. Latha m had an eas ie r tim e of it in mo to on e of the 250cc Mod ified Pro class, leading all th e way. Keen ey was second after holding o ff a la te- mo te charge by Pingree. Latham led the way off the start again in the second outing, with Keeney n ipping at his heels . Latham was able to open a sligh t advantag e on lap two w hen he doubled the first jump after the start; he was the only r ider to clear the ob stacl e a ll week . Keeney went down and left Deegan to challenge the lead er, b u t Latham held h im off for his th ir d overall w in . Deegan, fourth in moto one, was second overall, while Pingree posted 3-3 scores for third. In the soggy first moto of the 80cc Stock (12-13) class, Suzuki-moun ted Kevin Windham (511) and Jeff Will oh d ice th rough a tum. Win d ha m won every moto in which he competed . Kevin Johns on (57), winner Bryan McGavran (194) and Adam Dea l (106) charge off the line in the 60cc Mod ified class . Jacob Martin took the early lead, avoiding the first-tu m pile-u p that took place behind him. On the second lap , Martin hydroplaned his front end in a wet spo t on the track and went d own, then had trouble picking up his bike. Gio Tedesco took over the front spot momentarily, but fell after a set of whoops and allowed Ca rmichael into firs t p lace. W ith r id ers fall ing left and right, Carmichael, who was riding with a sore knee and ankle after coming up short over a d ouble during practice, kept it u prigh t and scored the moto win. The seco nd race w as mu ch drier, and Carmichael pulled the holeshot and never looked back. Martin nabbed sec-: ond af te r hold ing off a poor-starting Ro b bie Horton, but Justin Guthrie earned second overall by virtue of his 36 moto tally. Martin snagged th e holeshot in the opening 80cc Modified (12-13) moto, . with Carmichael gating third and moving to the front by the completion of lap one. Carmichael cru ised to a lead of over eight se conds, but Martin came back to pass him on the fina l circuit. Ca rmichae l got back around and scored the moto w in, with Martin se ttling for second. Martin again led the pack at the sta rt of moto two , but Ca rm ichael was righ t o n his rear fen der. Carmichael began to d ouble from a jum p to the top of a huge table, and this allowed him to get by with one lap remaining. Martin was second for second overall. "This will be my biggest win of the year if I can pul l off the Grand National Championship for the second year in a row," said the diminutive Carmichael. While Carmichael wa s making a shambles of the younger mini divisions, Bogard was doing likewise in the (14-16) class, w hich he just ad vanced to thi s ye a r. The rider from Grand Prairie, Texa s, led from start to finis h in rnot o one of th e 80cc Stock d ivision , easily besting Kaw asaki-mounted Caleb Leath. Bogard cam e out just as strong in moto two, and notched the overa ll win. Sha un Perolio, se ven th in moto one, crossed the line se cond in moto tw o for th ird overall.
