Bennett had the advantage of starting on the zero-yard line in th e H a n d ica p feature . He would be followed by Craig Elst ins on the 10, Dustin Schroeder on the 30 and Robert Curry on the 40. Jim Sisemo re and Bart Bast lined up on the 50 to comp lete the field. • When the tape s new Benn ett wa s off and runn in g w ith Eisti n s a nd Sch roe de r givi ng chase. Sisemore and Schroeder mad e every effort to reel Bennett in, but he was riding smoothly, doing just enough to maintain an insurmountable lead . Bennett look the checkered flag to score his first Hand icap main even t win , followed by Sise mo re, Sch roeder, Ba st, Curry and Eistins. - I had a big lead to sta rt out with, so I just kept i t o n th e p ole in good tract io n," s a id Bennett. - It worked. The track was completely used up by the time the Scratch main was ready to roll, and it appeared that the winn er of the start wou ld likely be the winn er of the race. Alan Christian, B.,st and Sisemore were we ll aware of this while they worked the d ir t in thei r respective gates two, three and four . Ochoa, on the pole, had other prob lems. His Godden had given up on him earlier in the night, a nd he wa s forc ed to ride a hastily borrowed Mike Kain Weslake. It proved to be magic as Ochoa blitzed out of the gate with the lead, leaving Chris tian, Bast and Sisemore to scrap for seco nd place into tum onc. Christian wheelied into the tum, but he was able to save it and begin the hunt for Ochoa . Sisemore and Bast weren't about to let tha t happen though, and they tucked in right behind Christi an. Sisemore pushed Christi an hard, hoping for tha t one mista ke tha t wo uld allow him to mo ve up. Bast applied th e sa me pressure to Sisemore. Wh ile t he three riders raced each o the r, Ochoa motored away, further incre asing his advantage. Ochoa took the win over Christ ia n, Sisemore and Bast. -I got the gate, and I felt no pressure," said Ochoa. "The borrowed bike was just hooking up and go ing grea t....
