McCormick, Transue master
Washougal Motocross
By Brian Barnes
WASHOUCAL, WA, MAY 2
Washougal Motocross Park hosted round 6ve of
the CMC Goldstar Series under absolute perfect
conditions after nearly three weeks of rain, and
Jason McCormick and Forrest Transue were
among the standouts in the 250 rider field, posting wins in the 125cc Pro and 12Sec Intermediate
classes, respectively.
Although only four riders did battle in both
the 125 and 250cc Pro classes, there was some
great racing during all four motos.
In the combinded 12Sec Pro/Intermediateclass 6rst mota, Grayson Hart led intermediate
riders Johnny Williams, Tom Crews and David
Meyers on the start, while six riders, including
JT Racing-sponsored McCormick and Team
Green rider Ryan Huffman, found themselves
on the ground and nearly a half lap behind. Hart
was riding flawlessly up front with Transue, the
intermediate leader, in tow, but Huffman and
McCormick were both slicing their way through
the field to run in the top eight by the halfway
point. HuJfman took a fall coming into the
whoops 00 the next lap, ending his charge.
McCormick continued his charge and on the last
of nine laps, passed Transue and then Hart
through the whoops to take a great win. Hart
was second after his strong ride, while Transue
was third across the line to take the intermediate
win, followed by Williams, Eric Graves and
Jason Oliphant.
In mota two it was McCormick all the way in
the pro group over Hart and Ulven. Transue
was forced to play catchup this time after a bad
start left him at the back of the pack. Transue
rode a flawless race, slicing his way past 10 rid·
ers to take another big win with Crews, Graves,
Oliphant and Williams following him home.
In the 250cc Pro class McCormick used a
next-lc>-Iast·lap pass on Huffman to win the fltSt
moto, and then in mota two got Hart on the last
lap to take another well.p""" (oc.w).
