Sportsman Association-sanctioned Hare Scramble at Santa Fe Trail Cycle Park. Recent deluges reduced the amount of land available and the resultant three-mile course was a challenging mix of technical sections and mud holes. Isaacs headed the first line of experts into the first corner, tailed by Bruce Korbelik, Mike Kruger, Dave Haworth and Dave Jeffery after a couple of extra kicks. Isaacs had no problems sorting out the track and led all 11 laps, followed by Korbelik, Kruger, Jeffery, and Haworth. In contrast 10 the stagnation of the Expert class, there was a lot of action back in the pack. Paul DiPasquale and Roger Ward swapped the Intermediate class lead several times until Ward ran out of gas. DiPasquale went on to sixth overall ahead of Steve Wichman, who survived a battle with Perry Keegan for the Open class honors. The Plus-30 class riders were led off the line by Brian Mathys, who soon missed a comer and was passed by Greg Aytes and Phil Ellsworth. Mathys was dropped to fourth by Randy Smith and the order was unchanged until lap nine when Aytes fell on a short uphill and lost position while trying to relight his KTM. He reeled in the leader but was 'blocked by lappers and couldn't make the pass. Results EX: 1. John Isaacs (J(TM); 2. Bruce Korbelik (ATK); 3. Mike D."ve Jeffery (KTM); 5. Washougal Motocross Park was actually hosting its first race of the season, but it was moved to Woodland due to heavy rains in the area all week. Aurora Suzuki-sponsored Jason Baker was also a force to be reckoned with, taking a second-mota win over 31 riders in the 12Scc Junior class to claim his overall.
