Allen grabbed the holeshot in the first moto, with Robert Fiesler and Doug Rodrigues in tow. Rodrigues went wide in the first turn and was gobbled up by the pack. George 5pearing edged US BEC, 1. Phillips was on the gas and powered by Brown at the same time that Spearing took advantage of a missed shift by Fiesler to take over second. Fiesler recovered quickly and began to pressure Spearing as they headed towards the back straight. As the riders carne from the back section of the course, Fiesler had reclaimed second. Up front. Allen extended his lead with every lap and went uncontested to the checkered flag. Feisler held onto second and Phillips settJed for third. Breaking into the top five as the moto came to a close were Honda-mounted Mike Chesbro and Jack Allen. As the gate fell for moto two Jack Allen grabbed the holes hot with Herbert Allen and Rodrigues in hot pursuit. Jack Allen made things easier for the announcer by dumping his Kawasaki after gelling crossed up in a rutted jump, leaving only one Allen out in front. Chesbro was out to better his first moto finish and took over second as he slipped by Rodrigues, who also fell victim to new member Mike Jervey. As the race progressed, Allen increased his lead, duplicating his first moto performance. At midmoto Jervey dove inside Chesbro for second, but Chesbro quickly retaliated and retook second a lap later. Joe Brown had been lurking in the shadows and was now making his presence known as he moved into fifth, with his sights set on lervey. Behind Brown, Phillips, Richard Bealer and AI Smith were engaged in a battle for a slot in the top five. On the last lap, Fiesler overtook Brown for third and Bealer danced through the whoops for fifth. When the results were posted, it was Herbert Allen with the overall over Fiesler, Chesbro, Phillips and Brown. Results (Kaw~ 500 IlEQ I. John .......... (Yom); u.nn, Murillo (Hon~ 125 NOV: 1.
