Greg Andrew ran in the second spot for the
first five laps of the 45-minute race before Hint
Shepard and Chris Honnold started applying
pressure. Shepard moved up to second with
HOMold also getting past Andrew on the same
lap. Reid was on the gas, pushing HOMoJd back
to fourth at the midway point after charging
from last place foUowing a first-lap crash. A lap
later, Reid took over the runner-up position
from Sheppard, and stayed there until the finish.
HOMold got around a fading Sheppard to eventually finish third.
Rod Robertson had the quickest reaction
time and led the Junior Vet Intermediate class
from the dead engine start. Ron Sharp foUowed
a short distance back in second place, ahead of
Mike frank and Tim McAdams. By the third
lap, Frank found a way around Sharp and was
slowly closing in on Robertson. Robertson made
it easy for Frank by going down in the deep
Edwards sand, handing over the lead. Sharp
was now on Robertson's rear fender and had
the momentum to continue on into second
place. Frank cruised out front for the second
half of the race and seemed to have it sewn up
until the last lap, when both Sharp aod
Robertson slipped by to finish ftrst and second,
respectively.
