(Left to right) Jeff Stanton, Damon Bradshaw and Mike Kiedrowski celebrated on the victory podium following the race. 8 "I got off to a good start and was hoping to hang onto the lead," Henry said. "And it worked out that way." Second went to Button with Ferry well back in third, Yezek fourth, and Matt Shue fifth on a Pro-Line Honda. The second heat lacked any drama almost from the start, with Lusk pulling out such a large lead that there was no question he would win if he stayed upright, which he did. At the end he had nearly a 12-second lead. The race for second wasn't as definitive. Kawasaki's Brian Deegan held the spot early with Princeton Honda's Jimmy Eickel on his tail. On the third lap, however, Mike Brown flew into second aboard the Jim's Motorcycle Sales/Pro-Circuit Honda, though he would be unable to challenge for the lead. Princeton Honda's Jason Edwards moved up to the front on the fourth lap, taking over third with Jeff Curry moving into fourth a lap later, setting Deegan back to fifth. At the end of six laps, Lusk was well in front and Brown had over six seconds on Edwards, with Curry not far behind. Eickel, who dropped out of contention in the second head, was back for the 12Scc last chance qualifier and into the front at the start. Kawasaki's Jim Neese was in pursuit, taking the lead on the second lap and leading Eickel to the checkered flag at the end of the four-lap race. The final two. transfer spots went to Gregory Kreinbrook and Doug Stone, the pair holding their positions from the second lap onwards. Pederson owned the start of the main with Henry second and Lusk third, and Neese fourth. Henry moved to the front on the second lap, Lusk following Pederson as Henry was able to pull away. Lusk caught up to Pederson on the fourth lap and followed him for about another lap before passing him at the end of the fifth lap. The front-running duo quickly made the race their own, though Lusk had a hard time denting Henry's lead. He would close at the end, but the win went to Henry, his first of the year, much to Lusk's dismay. "I hope you all come down to .Daytona to cheer me on because things are going to be a little different there," Lusk said. "He got out front early and I wasn't able to get by Chad for a couple more laps. I just tried to ride smooth and tried to catch him. By the time I got by he had too big of a lead," Lusk said. Pederson held third for the final 10 laps, no one close enough to chase and no one challenging. But following his heat performance, he was content with the ride. "In my heat race I collided with another rider and hurt my shoulder," he said. "Before the main I took a pain pill and my stomach cramped up." Early contestants for fourth were Neese, Jeff Curry and Button. At the halfway mark the order was Button, Curry, and Neese, but it would change within a few laps. On the 12th lap Button fell and allowed everyone to move up a notch, with Neese going down a lap later and dropping well back. With Button's shunt, Curry moved into fourth, where he would finish ahead of Sheak, and Eickel who moved up dramatically in the final laps to take c:N sixth ahead of Barry Carsten.
