uf Racing teammates Jeff Curry and
Pat Barton powered to the overall
wins in the 125 and 250cc Pro
classes, respectively, at the penultimate
T
round of the Florida Winter AMA MX
Series, held at Diamondback Cycle Park.
Curry charged through the pack in both
motos after mediocre starts, and posted
both 125cc Pro moto wins at the Tony 0

"I live in Michigan, but I've been
staying in Florida with my friend Don
Leddy," said Curry. "Being able to ride
during the week and avoiding the long
drive home has made a difference in my
riding."
Barton, on the other hand, combined
4-1 moto finishes to earn the overall win
in the 250cc Pro class. Tim Ferry, Mike
Treadwell and Fred Andrews led Barton
home in the opening contest, but Barton
raged back in the second moto and posted a convincing win.
"My conditioning was the key
today," said Barton. "1 have'been riding
45-minute motos during the week."
At the start of the first 125cc Pro
moto, Damien Plotts had the fastest
clutch hand and led Jim Neese, Kenny
Yoho, Joel Dengler and Anthony Paggio.
Ferry and Curry suffered poor starts,
and scrambled to work their way
through the pack. Neese took over the
lead on the second lap and enjoyed it
unlillap eight.
Meanwhile, Curry latched up with
Treadwell and the duo sawed through
the field and into second and third. The
pair reeled Neese in and easily passed
the early leader. Neese seemed to tire
suddenly, and dropped to seventh after
Curry and Treadwell got past.
"My back and leg gave out," said
Neese. "1 had a big lead, but 1 had to
back off."
Curry notched the moto win aboard
his TUF Racing/Kawasaki Team
Green/Dunlop/Scott/Renthal-backed
Kawasaki, just ahead of Treadwell. Scott
Sheak, Plotts and Chad Pederson rounded out the top five. "I used the rougher,
but tighter lines to make up time,"
