They had comfortably suspended my trusty but heavy Yamaha XSll for 65,000 miles and 10 years. A customer could hardly ask for better reliability, so I felt almost guilty when I returned them to Koni under warranty. Within a week they sent back a pair of brand new shocks, no questions asked. It is rare these days to find a company that backs up their product so completely. When KOnl advertises "lifetime guaranteed," I can testify that they really mean it! Daniel Auth Houston, TX Why#S? But now I see Damon Bradshaw with #8 on his bike when he actually was second in the 1992 Camel Supercross Series. I'm a confused couch potato, but I know that the Cycle News gurus will set me straight. Bart Widman Fall City, WA With the exception ofclass champions carrying #1 plates, other AMA professional MXers carry number plates based on the combined number of points tlrey accumulated in Camel Supercross and 125, 250 and 500cc National competition. Bradshaw was indeed second in the '92 Camel Supercross Series with 328 points, but he added only 167 points to his total from 250cc National Championship events, and 495 points placed him seventh (remember, #1 goes to the different class champs), behind. Jeff Stanton (827 points), Mike Kiedrowski (705), JeanMichel Bayle (665), Mike LaRocxo (611), J , ., .. Jeff Emig (580) and Guy Cooper (511) Because some riders are superstitious, #13 is not awarded... Editor. Moveover I attended the opening round of the Camel Supercross Series in Orlando along with 30-40,000 other fans. The color announcer, Bob Hannah, told the crowd numerous times during the U5 and 250cc main events that when en official on the track points and wavesa blue flag at a racer, that means, anc I quote Hannah, "that there is a suplrcross race going on and you are notin it." Well, Bob, if these riders are not irit, what are they doing on the track? Thise riders have worked most of their liv~to make it to the main event of a sup-rcross and then you have the audacityto state that they are not even in the rate. These riders are in the top 20 of th,ir class on that night and they deseIVe some respect as racing at this level is he highest in the U.s.A. As an ex-racer, y:lu should realize the skill level it takes to make it that far. When making flippan: comments like this one, Bob, you demonstrate that while you may have been a master of motocross, you are sliD a novice at announcing.
