Many of the top AMA Superbike teams were planning on racing in the event as a tune-up for the season opener in Phoenix on February 14. The first round of the 1993 Motorcycle Asphalt Racing Series (MARS) will take place on Volusia County Speedway's high-banked oval at Barberville, Florida, on Sunday afternoon, February 28. The third running of the Daytona Half Mile ro d of the series will offer competitors a 2,000 purse and one rider who will be unning for the winner's share will be 19 MARS Champion Larry Pegram.
