eMOTOCROSS Florida Winter AMA Series: Round 2 m I Kurt McMillen (41), Pat Barton (83), Scott Carter (762) and Timmy Ferry (29) charged to tum one in a 12Sec Pro class moto. Ferry won both the 125 and Alan Andreau (5) diced with Kevin Foley (111) before winning the Vet Pro division. Ferry roosts Orlando By Mike and Anne Adair ORLANOO, FL, JAN. 9-10 ne night after placing 13th in the 125cc cla~s at··the Camel Supercross Series opener in Orlando's Citrus Bowl, Timmy Ferry topped both the 125 and 250cc Pro classes in round two of the Florida Winter AMA Motocross Series at Orlando Motocross Park. Rains prior to O 26 the event saturated the coUrse, and the resulting wet, deep,. sandy soil was a sharp contrast to the hard-packed Gainesville track at the series opener one week earlier. "(1) only got a few hours sleep," said Ferry, who was challenged in each of the 250~c Pro classes. Ferry was a busy person. He also competed in the Orlando Supercross the night before. motos and was forced to come from behind in three outings. "TItis track was tough, and 1 don't know where 1 found the energy to compete in four hard motos." The World Sports-promoted, AMAsanctioned event was sponsored by Scott USA, Dunlop, Barrs Competition, Pro Circuit, Tuf Racing, Cycle News, AXO, Maxima, Powermist, Boise Engineering, Pro Action Suspension, Hammerhead Graphics and Chariot Trailers. Action in the 12Scc Pro class began with Matt Shue leading Jim Neese, Jeff Curry and Carl Vaillancourt into tum one. Ferry started in sixth position. Neese narrowly missed a stack-up in the sec'ond turn, and set ou t to pressure Shue. Neese continued the pressure until he drifted wide in a tum, hit a berm and broke his brake lever. Shue a~ crashed, and Curry took advantage of the leading duo's mistakes to move by and score the win. After a charge through the field, Ferry crossed the finish line in second position, with Vaillancourt third and Shue remounting in time for a fourthplace finish. Neese was well back in the pack. "1 was real lucky out there," said the Team Green/Tuf Racing/Dunlop/ Renthal/Scott USA-backed Curry. "A guy was stopped after a jump, so I jumped over him and rolled down his bars and fender as 1 landed. After Shue and Neese fell, I was all alone. 1 love this kind of dirt; It's like Michigan in the spring." In moto two, Ferry passed Curry and pulled into the lead after the pack rounded the first turn. Shue, Damien Plotts, Michael Treadwell, Curry and" Neese were all in the lead pack. Treadwell worked by Shue and began a rousing battie with leader Ferry. Neese made a bid for second place over
