Kee n e y had mac h i ne problems in th e o ther 250cc m o io , wh ich was wo n by Jason Kem pe l. Keen ey spe n t all win ter co mpe ting in pro races in Ca li forn ia and has been the do min ant rider in Distri ct 23 since his retu rn, Keeney led from th e drop of the gate as th e first 125cc A moto began and blasted h is Kawasak i in for th e wi n. Kempel ran stro ng in the ear ly part of the race,' q ut was displaced by Aaron Ca rl so n near th e Iialfwa y pomt. Keen ey launch ed into th e lead in the seco n d moto wh ile Kempel , Engstrom and Bra ndon Bac kes settle d in behind.
