won the overall in th e 16-24 year-o ld class at
the new ly opened Blu egrass Motocross Park.
In Ihe firs t mo to of th e 125cc Mon ey class ,
Rodney Carrier was the ear ly leader fo llowed
by May. May attempted a {lass on Carrier bu t
th e mo re experienced Camer held to the lead .
O n lap three, May opened hi s throttle and
sto le fir st from Carrier. Carrier slacked off the
pace and ga ve May p lenty of room for the
win .
J ohn Schneider topped the 85cc ( 1213) class a t Hurricane Hills MX.
In th e 16-24 year-old class, May ta ngled wi th
Robbi e Cook in moto o ne and Cook scored
the mo to win ahea d of May ta ki ng seco nd .
May return ed to capture th e overall wi n for
the day by to pping moto two.

co nd itio n , but the mor e than 200 rid ers th at
showed up chose to race anyway . T he rain
slOPped for pr act ice, but sta rted agai n befor e
the first molO, causing pr om oter H urd to
cha nge the day to a one· mo to format.
New J ersey's Ph il Carlin didn't seem to
mind as he too k h is Hon da to a pair of o veralls
a nd a second in th e three class es he en tered ,
topping the O pe n Expe rt a nd th e Pl us 25
Expert classes as well as ta king a second in
the Senior Expert clas s behind Sorenson.

to the head of the pack in th e first 125cc
Ama teur race with Mik e Lindsey in second
followed by Chad Kresge, Mike Finnerty and
Roger Han na. Gr o ver gai ned a 16-second lead
over Lindsey and Kresge, who left the rest of
the pack behind in their bau le for the ru nneru p spo t. G rover fell o n lap three, bu t go t up
an d sta rt ed hi s bi ke wi th a si x~sec o n d
advantage over Lin dsey and Kresge. Gr over
rode flaw lessly for th e last two laps to tak e
the win, Li ndsey held off Kresge for seco nd
with Fin nerty taking fourth ah ead of Luke
Wis t, wh o wor ked hi s way through the pack
from a bad sta rt.
Rob ert Su roc ki went to th e from of th e other
28 I 25cc Novi ce class riders in their moLO, with
Ji m my Sm ith in seco nd follo wed by Thoma s
Sta sik, J aso n Saa r and Dan Cittadino. Surock i
ope ned a six-second lead over Smith , wh o had
10 seco nds over Saar who got by Stasi k for
thi rd. T hey held o n and finis hed in that ord er
wit h the sco rers unable to read the numbers
o n th e fift h and sixth p lace rid ers.
Kenneth LaGlear took the ho leshot in the
250cc Am at eu r mo to closely follo wed by
Anthony Peregrin, Gary Bush , Chris Albansoi us and Anthony Capone. LaGlear was able
to hold off Bus h un til th e third lap whe n Bush
o utjumped him o n th e finish lin e tabl etop
and ran awa y from th e pack for the win .

T he previou s week 's racin g surface was very
slippery, d ue to the same co nd i tio ns. As a
result there were a lot of low sides. T his week,
prior to the sta rt of the races, a com mercially
ava ilable tra ct ion co mpo und was put down
on all the of fendi ng co rners. T he improveme nt in co r ner i n g grip a nd sp eed wa s
dramatic, taki ng a minimum of 2.5 second s
of f th e previous week 's la p times.
T he inverted sta rt ing grid, ala sp rint cars,
sa w eventu al Stoc k clas s winn er La ney come
fro m th e back of the pack to the front for
th e even tual win . During th e fir st eight-lap
round, po le-sitt er, lO·year·o ld Bran do n Rose,
sho wed th e g roup thro ugh th e first turn. Dave
Pabst im med iat ely grabbed th e lead and held
it unti l th e thi rd turn , when a mi ssed sh ift
ca used him to be relega ted to th ird p lace. Back
row sta rters Melvill e and Laney, muscled their
way 10 th e front on th e start and po un ced
on Pabst's m ista ke.
