The final saw Al Horne get the holeshot ahea d of O 'Boyl e, Bigelow, and J eff Deveereaux , but this was Curry's da y as he moved past Emrick and the ot hers. Curry and Horne pla yed a ga me of tag throughout the second lap. The scoring booth turns took their toll again with Home the victim. Stephe ns gave no indication tha t he had any su rprises up his sleeve, as he earned onl y a mediocre fin ish in the firs t mota which was wo n by Yamaha rider Eric Brandmeyer. Fi nis h ing behind Bra ndmeyer were , in addi tion to severa l guest ride rs, Randy Godich and Roger Moo re, both riding H onda s. But in the second moto, Suzuki-mo un ted Step'hen s holeshot a nd never look ed back, butlding an insurmountable lead by mOlD'S . end. Coming in beh ind Stephens were three more gues t riders, foll owed by Godich and Brandmeyer, earnin g second and third overa ll, respec tively. OTHG Novi ce action saw J im Terry score the win in the first moto after taking advantage of a spill by leader Mark Mulliner who came in second, followed by Hondamounted Danny Lowers. Mulliner kept his new KX 250 upright in the second moto to take the checkered nag and overall win, this time stayi ng ahead of Terry, who earned second for the day. O nce again Lowers. waiting for a mistake that never occurred, had to settle for third place and third overall. In the Intermediate class, OTHG-regular Phil Mascorro scored the win with two first place finishes, even staying ahead of one of the Experts in the first rnoto. Mascorro had ' to work a little harder in the second rnoto , however , fighting hi s way aro und second overa ll finis her Klaus Baker. Roy Knight prevailed in the Gang's Expert class with back-to-hack moto win s. Following Knight to the checkered nag in the first moto was new member Frank Lowers, who settled for second after fighting hi s way through traff ic. Bob Clark arrived in third place after getti ng bogged down in Intermediate traff ic. Clark holeshot the second moto but was soo n passed by Knight who proceeded to build up a comfo rtable lead on the nicely groomed tra ck.
