CHR IS SM IT H Jimmy Gaddis (37), Ross Pederson (ll) and Lowell Thomson (4) blast out of a tight Reno Arenacross tum. Gaddis was the night's big money winner. Fairgrounds in Ridgecrest, and J eff Stanford motored to the overall win in the Pro class. The course was mod ified to cha lle nge the riders even more with added ju mps and a series · of supercross wh oo p-de-docs, Pro action found Stanford. aboard a big bike for the first time . Stanford usually rides an 80cc mot orcycle against the likes of Jeff Black and Brian Vargus. Stanford powered his 125 to the win over Black's 250 and Vargus' 500. Also riding in the same race were 1250c Intermediate Terry Pa rsons and Nick Young. Parsons rode the wheels off of his bike to ga in the overall lead, in front of all of the Pros. Bad lu cie. was with him this time, as a break in the bike's coolant system left Parsons on the side of the track with a blown engi ne. Parsons borrowed a bike for the second moto, with strict instructions no t to blow that one up. Parsons gave himself 10 laps to get familiar with the bike, then poured on the coa ls to again take the overa ll lead . The first moto DNF hun him thou gh , and You ng took the win for the day. The 250cc Novice class saw Beanie Boyts holes hot each mo to, but unab le to ho ld on to hi s lead as Eric J acobs and Randy Gillespie battled their way past, Stalls and sp ills allowed Jacobs a nd Gillespie to swap moto wins with Jacobs coming home with the first place trophy. In 80cc Beginner action, Jacob Machow~ky and Colby Begin banged bars and traded the lead numerous limes in each mO{Q, but Machowsky stayed with it to take the overall for the da y. D.J . Sweany and Pat Foster rode head to head in the l250c Beginner race and pulled out a .considerable lead over the rest of the pa ck. Foster hounded Sweany all day, but had to settle for second place. Vet Intermediate rider Nick Young throttled his way (Q an earl y lead in each mO{Q, leaving Randy Gillespie, Scott Berry and Murray Miller to scrap for the remai ning top spots. Vet Novice racers R ob You n~ and Dan Ith Scheller Scheller traded moto wins, W gelling the nod for the overall. Resul ts (K.aw).
