Denny Vorndran leads 250cc Stock winner David Boydstun and Norman·Francis (3Z)~ Landus Kent was the runner-up to Alt mann in the 400cc Stock division. Terry Sterrett (668) had to pass fellow Triumph-mounted rider Len Anderson (6X) in order to score the overall win in the Sportsman Open Twins Novice class. . Haase in the 30 Intermediate event, but there was no stop ping the Husqvarna rider. Blacka went 2-3 for second overall, while Beck put in two more good rides to end the day th ird. BSA rider Mike Atkins traveled down from northern California to nab fourth with 6·4 finishes. CZ-mounted Phil Anderson and Virgil Elings had it out in th e 50 Novices , with Elings taking the top position. They each had a win and a runner-up finish, but Elings' secondmoto triumph aboard a Digi tal Instruments H o nda gave him the nod. Harold H eitmiller 's consistent 3-3 netted th ird overall. Ace Distributing-backed Anderson got his trophy in the Premier Lightweight Novi ce class, as he nailed backto-hack wins over Greeves rider Bill Samstag. In Prem ier Lightweight Intermediate. Allen Wenzel debuted a DOT Demon and suffered thro ugh some carburetion woes to win the even t over Robert Norman, who was also riding in the class for the first time aboard a H onda CL72 Scrambler. Wheel Power proprietor Jim Holbrook, riding an AJS , cro ssed the finish lin e behind BSA B40·mcumted John Koch in the first Premier 500cc moto, but got by Koch wh en it coun ted in race two to score his first overa ll victory in the class. A po tentia lly great Premier Open T wins Intermediate race fell apart as the day progressed. Ron Clawson, debuting his new ultra-lightweight Tribsa sheared the rear sprocket bolts in practice and was unable to compete, then Dave Rogers an d his Triumph collided wit h another ride r in the first moto and in jured his shoulder. And Greg Grouleff didn 't start rnoto two ·a fter dominating the first race aboard his beautiful new Tribsa. When the dust settled, usual winner Ed Crowell did it again , this tim e with 2-1 CN finishes. Daryl Hambleton dominated the Open Twins Expert class in his first AH RMA meeL J .D.
