didn 't shar e Andersson's fondness for
riding th e ro ad in cold temperatures.
Hoess said, " T he re rea lly was n 't a lot
of road, it just seemed like a lo t in th is
kind of weather. "
Allen Gravitt, tied a t 33 with Husky
riders Andersson a nd Hoess and fellow
KTM ri der J ack Lafferty, said, " I had
trouble with so me hill s - I couldn't
get up them, they were frozen. We had
brand-new tires and it still d idn 't help ,
what we needed were studs. I h it a
cou p le o f chec ks o n the second but they
wouldn't give them to me, a nd I lost
a tie break er."
Team G reen 's Ku rt Ho ugh said, " It
wa s p retty scary wit h the frozen
cornfields and the ruts. I just took it
easy and d idn 't do anything too stupid.
I m issed at least four checks, maybe
five, by j us t a seco nd or two and I ended
up with 33. That's how it goes, it looks
like m inutes but i t's a matter of
seconds. On a da y like today if yo
can co me home healthy you're doing
alright, I tossed my ch ain a bo ut four
tim es and it's nothing to put it back
on excep t that one tim e it was a cree k
crossing. I had to reach down in th e
wat er that tim e to put it back on and
I was a little co ld after that one.
Everytime I came to a creek crossing
I took my time and made sure I didn 't
get hung-up because I wou ld have been
fin ish ed right there."
